@scdrover I agree Sara!
Wald's statement makes it seem as though this generation does not value live music the same. Like you said, people listen to recordings because they are fans, and these fans are the same ones that would by a ticket the moment they performed near them. #POPMUSW22
@frank_holdbrook Totally agree Frank!
I believe a big reason this generation enjoy records so much are how easy they are to access. you can access them anywhere, anytime, and listen. I believe that many people would rather see an artist live, its just much more difficult to do that. #POPMUSW22
I do not agree with Wald's statement regarding the current pop audience. This audience just utilizes the accessibility that modern technology provides more so than ever before. Many young people would quickly decide to see their favorite artist if given the chance. #POPMUSW22
@bmrowe17 Totally agree Brianna!
Ray had a great ability to make you feel what he was feeling through his voice, and breaking voice was at the forefront. he is able to make you feel a certain way, not just by the lyrics, but how he says and sings them. #POPMUSW22
@KomranMackey Totally agree Komran!
Ray's ability to break his voice made his songs much more powerful and made a more emotional connection with the listener. It is as if you can feel the pain, sorrow, and happiness that he sings about in his songs. #POPMUSW22
Ray Charles' utilization of a breaking voice allowed him to be able to convey his emotions more clearly throughout his music. It helped Ray make his music more unique, and as a result of this uniqueness he became one of the most recognizable musicians of all time. #POPMUSW22
@ThisModernLuke Totally agree Luke!
The options to share music with friends have never been greater. Like you mentioned, Spotify has many features that allow you to share music, like the option to see what your friends are listening to in live time.#POPMUSW22
@KomranMackey Totally agree! I remember countless hours as a kid renaming downloaded music files from limewire so I could properly catalog my music. As you stated, as time progressed music has become much more accessible and streaming is at the forefront. #POPMUSW22
Streaming services have had a profound impact on the way we listen to music. These services provide access to millions of songs that can be downloaded in seconds. Also, complicated algorithms provide listeners with more personalized options than ever before. #POPMUSW22
@DunphyMackenzie Great point Mackenzie!
No doubt the music and media industries have created 'false need' regarding body image. I find this to be quite evident in music videos where you are flooded with unrealistic body standards. #POPMUSW22
@MercerBen_11 Totally agree Ben!
Popular music today is filled with substance use as a way to deal with hardships. This definitely appeals to people as they may see this as an acceptable way to deal with ones problems, when in reality substance use can easily ruin a persons life. #POPMUSW22
False needs are created by popular music and mass media all the time. One that seems to be currently glamorized is rapid drug use and excess partying. This propagates a dumbed-down form of music. this is noticeable when comparing current rap music to rap in the 90s. #POPMUSW22
