@scdrover I agree with this. Canadian artists obviously have a disadvantage when it comes to accessing the industry. Promotion of Canadian artists should still remain in place but with the ability to access these artists from a variety of platforms, a quota does not seem needed. #POPMUSW22
@haley_pinksen The promotion aspect of Canadian music is still important. However, I believe that the enforcement of the Canadian quota is outdated with the access to music today. The promotion of Canadian music can remain without enforcement. #POPMUSW22
@Zoeycross1 I also agree with this. Live music often invokes more emotion than what may have originally been present in the recordings. The emotion felt through live music further connects artists and the fans. #POPMUSW22
@hepquinton I agree with this, Hannah! The experience of attending a live concert is so much more than getting to hear the music. It creates an atmosphere that connects the artist and the fans together in one space, regardless of the sound quality. #POPMUSW22
@ThisModernLuke This point is valid, but I also believe that artists can make covers their own by introducing their own style into the original, while retaining (or even raising) the level of emotion from the original. #POPMUSW22
@ShaveEmily Completely agree with this. Credit should be given where it is due. Music should also be something that inspires other artists and producers to create new sounds, and if it includes crediting past work, I do not think there is a problem. #POPMUSW22
@haley_pinksen The originality of Charles' breaking voice also helped him stand out from other blues artists as many had similar themes present in the lyrics. #POPMUSW22
@EmilyTucker110 I agree with this, Emily! I think the use of emotion as a vocal strategy is something less commonly found in songs of other genres. The emotion present in Charles' voice makes him stand out. #POPMUSW22
@RyTheriault This feature also creates a new social aspect to music. The option to discover songs from others allows two listeners to bond over a certain song, artist, or genre. #POPMUSW22
@frank_holdbrook Streaming services are something that I personally appreciate for the amount of music I consume in a week. It allows listeners to connect to many different artists who they would not discover otherwise and can be personalized to each user's music taste. #POPMUSW22
@MA20220106 While I agree that Love Story creates a false need that love has to be picture perfect, I also think that many popular songs recently highlight the downs of relationships and the hardships that follow, containing lyrics that are written from the heart. #POPMUSW22
@EmilyTucker110 This is a great point, Emily! Another example that came to my mind is Logic's song titled as the suicide help line. It created a lot of conversation in the media about mental health, which are great conversations to be having! #POPMUSW22
