Fangirl of a certain age. Not much into "nice" but I try for kind. Queer on several axes, and enough of a language geek that I researched that plural. she/they
Daughter identifies as queer. A while back she asked me what I am. Told her there’s not a word for what I am. Said “I’m a snugglesexual”. Today, she showed me the flag she designed for sugglesexuals. Y’all…
@JustaDumguy @fahrradamzug @deirdresm@Phanyxx@IDoTheThinking or strollers is worse than useless if you’re trying to get anywhere on time, for example (you can’t rely on it) and if the one elevator in a suburban multi-level station isn’t working, there’s a whole chunk of city that just became inaccessible.
@JustaDumguy @fahrradamzug @deirdresm@Phanyxx@IDoTheThinking As an abled person who’s dealt extensively with the logistics of friends and family who use wheelchairs…maybe, with the largest caveat being how *actually* accessible the public transit is. A bus with one or two wheelchair spaces usually occupied by standing passengers
@elaineofshalott My grandmother also had the the elephant statue collection! (And, yes, basically that living room.) But in her case it was the big glass jar of mixed wrapped hard candies.
@kalakirya But that is fun! 😆 (for me it was towels - I was old when I got excited by towels as birthday present (I was 15/16, and they were Excellently Purple, but still) and grown up when I realized I could just…get rid of the inherited kitchen towels I HATED and buy new ones.)
@piratessa@Aderyn@Splintered_star@seananmcguire Neat, thank you! I was adopted and met my birth mother when I was 18, and it left me with strong curiosity (and opinions) about inherited traits.
@Aderyn@Splintered_star@seananmcguire (My birth mother and I have such a strong resemblance that I spent a whole creeped out by my own reflection in my late 30s until I realized I had inadvertently wound up with the same haircut she had when I met her, at the same age, so I was seeing *her* in the mirror.)
@Aderyn@Splintered_star@seananmcguire Now I’m really curious about the determining mechanism for *which* X is surpressed, because my birth mother’s family has an amazingly strong resemblance in most of the female line - except, hilariously, for my half-sister, who looks less like me than any of my cousins or aunts.
@Felgraf_Physics @NomeDaBarbarian @Mrs_Schwarzski @UrsulaV I learned the hard way to always wash my hands thoroughly after putting on Tiger Balm.
…and then I learned just how much you have to SCRUB to get Tiger Balm ALL THE WAY OFF.
