Why I Will Always Choose MultiversX (#EGLD) Over Solana?
Disclaimer: I'm not a hater of #Solana; I just don't see a future in it and will always choose better technology. Because better and well-thought-out technology always wins in the long term.
In the rapidly evolving world of blockchain, choosing the right platform is crucial for developers, investors, and users alike. Even though Solana has seen significant price growth, it doesn't change the fact that #MultiversX (formerly #Elrond) is superior in every aspect.
MultiversX Achieves What Vitalik Dreamed Of
MultiversX is the only blockchain that successfully implemented sharding (https://t.co/MZNFHpwj7v) a few years ago. This is a significant milestone that even @toly, founder of Solana, has deemed nearly impossible due to its complexity, as mentioned in various interviews. Sharding is a very challenging task, yet MultiversX has managed to overcome these hurdles.
Furthermore, everything @VitalikButerin envisioned for #ETH a few years ago, including unlimited scalability and decentralization through sharding, has been realized by MultiversX. Sadly, these goals are now unattainable for Ethereum, which has shifted its focus toward scaling with Layer 2 solutions. Despite these advancements, many are reluctant to explore, learn about, and adopt MultiversX. Instead, they often follow the hype, just as they did with Bitcoin from 2010 to 2017, ignoring the groundbreaking technology that MultiversX offers. It's time for the blockchain community to recognize and embrace the innovation and potential of MultiversX.
Here's why:
1. Scalability
MultiversX's adaptive state sharding provides virtually unlimited scalability, up to 10,000,000+ transactions per second, by simply adding more shards. This ensures that the network can grow with increasing demand without sacrificing performance. In contrast, Solana, although capable of high throughput, is limited by its current hardware and network infrastructure.
Why Scalability Doesn't Matter When It Comes at the Cost of Decentralization?
Increasing hardware requirements continually exclude more participants, concentrating power among a few. This issue was highlighted in a discussion between @AlexSkidanov, founder of NEAR, and @toly, founder of Solana, four years ago. You can watch the debate here (https://t.co/hDkhRlKYe1).
Solana's Network Issues and Scalability Problems
Solana has been experiencing significant network outages, with at least 11 major outages in the past two yearsโ. These disruptions have highlighted persistent reliability issues. For instance, in early February 2024, Solana faced a five-hour outage due to a bug in the LoadedPrograms function.
Such frequent downtimes raise serious concerns about the network's ability to maintain consistent uptime, which is crucial for any blockchain aiming for widespread adoption and reliability. The high hardware requirements for running a validator node on Solana contribute to centralization, as only those with significant resources can afford the necessary equipment. This centralization trend is likely to worsen as hardware demands increase.
Moreover, Solana's current scalability issues have already led to network congestion and performance bottlenecks, prompting the development of Layer 2 solutions to manage the load. However, for many in the blockchain community, including myself, Layer 2 solutions are not the future. True scalability and decentralization should be achieved at the Layer 1 level.
I believe that reliance on Layer 2 solutions is a temporary fix rather than a long-term solution. The future of blockchain technology lies in robust and inherently scalable Layer 1 solutions like those provided by MultiversX. Solana's ongoing struggles with network stability and scalability suggest that it might not be the sustainable choice for the future.
Why Should I Care About a Solana That Is Heading Towards Centralization of Power, Cartels, Network Outages, and Instability?
A system that is not perfectly thought out from the ground up. Just because its price is rising and it's being pumped by VCs? To me, Solana is essentially like Web2โโโjust slightly more decentralized than something like Amazon, but not by much. And it's only going to get worse. This isn't much of a step into the future. It can't last long. It's a ticking time bomb. It's a ticking time bomb. One day it can burst, and I don't want to be the one who didn't warn you.
2. Decentralization
The high hardware requirements for running a validator node on Solana can lead to centralization, as only those with significant resources can afford the necessary equipment. For example, individuals like John and Jack can't easily become validators because the hardware demands are becoming increasingly stringent. On the other hand, MultiversX, with its low hardware requirements due to sharding, allows more people to participate as validators, ensuring a more decentralized network. MultiversX has significantly enhanced its Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism by incorporating the Fisherman protocol. This innovation boosts the network's security and efficiency by introducing an additional layer of validation. The Fisherman protocol allows validators to challenge and verify the correctness of proposed blocks, adding an extra layer of security and reducing the likelihood of fraudulent activities. This improvement ensures that MultiversX can maintain high throughput and scalability while safeguarding the network's integrity. By combining adaptive state sharding with the Fisherman protocol, MultiversX achieves unparalleled performance and security in the blockchain space.
Why Solana is Centralized?
Decentralization is a fundamental principle of blockchain technology, aiming to distribute control and power across a wide network of participants rather than a centralized authority. However, Solana has several characteristics that contribute to its centralization:
High Hardware Requirements:
Running a validator node on Solana requires substantial computational resources and expensive hardware. This high barrier to entry limits participation to those who can afford the necessary equipment, leading to centralization of power among a few well-resourced entities. Source: Cointelegraph
Validator Distribution:
The network's validator set is relatively small compared to other major blockchain networks. Fewer validators mean fewer entities controlling the network, which can lead to centralization. Source: Finbold
Frequent Outages and Resets:
Solana's network has experienced multiple outages, requiring coordinated efforts from validators to restart the network. These coordinated actions imply a level of control and centralization that is not present in more decentralized networks. Source: Decrypt
Influence of Venture Capital:
Significant backing from venture capitalists can also lead to centralization. VCs often hold large amounts of tokens, which can give them disproportionate influence over network governance and decision-making.
Validators and infrastructure for Solana are geographically concentrated. This concentration can lead to vulnerabilities and central points of failure, contrary to the distributed nature of a truly decentralized network.
Why Decentralization Matters
Decentralization ensures that no single entity has too much control over the network, promoting security, resilience, and trust. When control is concentrated, it increases the risk of collusion, censorship, and network failure. True decentralization allows for a more democratic and secure blockchain, where the power is distributed among a broad base of participants. This is a core reason why MultiversX, with its low hardware requirements and robust decentralization mechanisms, is a preferred choice for a sustainable and future-proof blockchain ecosystem.
3. Security
Solana has experienced multiple outages, bugs, and various security issues, including frequent drains and hacks that have resulted in losses of tens of millions of dollars. The network has faced significant downtimes and vulnerabilities within its architecture, which have compromised user trust and security. In contrast, MultiversX offers superior security with zero seconds of downtime, actively preventing many of the hacks that Solana fails to mitigate. Additionally, about 61.60% of the MultiversX network's EGLD tokens are staked, ensuring robust network security and economic stability. The network is supported by 3,329 validators, further enhancing its decentralization and security.
MultiversX is also the only blockchain that provides on-chain 2-phase verification, enhancing user security dramatically. For example, @EGLDheist publicly shared his private key (seed) holding over $11,000, yet no one has been able to access his funds, demonstrating the unparalleled security of the MultiversX ecosystem. With xPortal, MultiversX's application is arguably even more secure than hardware wallets like Ledger. Personally, I use Ledger in combination with MultiversX's on-chain 2-phase verification, creating an almost unhackable setup. For more detailed insights, check the tweets from @RobertSasu or read their whitepaper https://t.co/z1QtoJZfZY
4. UI/UX
MultiversX offers an unparalleled user experience (UI/UX) that is far ahead of its competitors. The platform features a timeless, modern, and simple design that is at least five years ahead of the competition. The user interface is designed to be intuitive and accessible, making it easy for anyone to use, regardless of their familiarity with blockchain technology. This approach ensures that even those who have never used blockchain can navigate the platform as easily as they would use Facebook, Instagram, Revolut, or Telegram. You can check https://t.co/lQ2u6foaDa.
5. VCs & Overvaluation
VCs and Overvaluation: The Case of Solana vs. MultiversX
Solana's current market capitalization is 77.35 times larger (77.35x more expensive) than that of MultiversX (EGLD), despite being technologically inferior and facing numerous unresolved issues. The technological advancements of MultiversX are incomparable, having successfully implemented sharding, achieving unlimited scalability, and ensuring robust decentralization.
MultiversX has solved nearly all the significant problems that other blockchains struggle with, and it boasts a superior tokenomics model. The EGLD token is deflationary, with a maximum supply capped at 31,415,926 EGLD, making it as scarce as Bitcoin. This scarcity adds to its value proposition as a long-term store of value.
Furthermore, MultiversX is not overly invested in by venture capitalists (VCs) to the extent that Solana is. Solana has significant VC backing, including substantial holdings by entities like FTX. The heavy investment by VCs creates a risk of centralization and overvaluation, and there have been concerns about the stability of Solana due to the large number of tokens controlled by these investors.
In contrast, MultiversX's more decentralized investment structure adds to its stability and long-term viability. This discrepancy presents a significant opportunity for substantial gains in EGLD's value. Given its technological superiority, potential for adoption, and sound tokenomics, EGLD has the potential to achieve a 100x increase in value as more people understand its technology and its real value becomes apparent over time.
The blockchain community should recognize the intrinsic value of MultiversX, which lies in its technological superiority, sound tokenomics, and balanced investment approach.
6. Tokenomics
MultiversX has a deflationary model with a maximum supply of 31,415,926 EGLD, ensuring long-term scarcity and value, similar to Bitcoin.
7. Team
The team behind MultiversX is composed of extremely talented senior developers, mathematicians, and cryptography experts. MultiversX has undergone several audits and remains highly active on GitHub, continuously developing software even during bear markets. The team works tirelessly, day and night, to push the boundaries of blockchain technology.
8. xPortal
The xPortal wallet is the most secure and best UI/UX wallet in the crypto world, operating with herotag, face ID, and on-chain 2FA security. The xPortal wallet is a non-custodial digital wallet and global payments app launched by MultiversX. It offers a suite of features including digital payments, a non-custodial crypto wallet, chat and social interaction, portfolio management, and a portal to the metaverse. Key features include secure storage and management of cryptocurrencies and NFTs, the ability to swap tokens and stake EGLD tokens to earn passive income, play-to-earn (P2E) games, a news feed keeping users up-to-date with crypto industry happenings, social features like following users and chatting, a hub connecting to third-party dApps, a debit card for spending crypto in stores (in EU), and on-chain 2FA for enhanced security. Additionally, it supports Ethereum dApps, further expanding its utility and versatility.
9. Sovereign Chains
MultiversX has introduced Sovereign Chains, a groundbreaking solution that enhances the scalability of existing Layer 2 networks by up to 100 times. This modular technology stack allows different applications to run on their dedicated shards while benefiting from the security and interoperability of the main network. During its initial demonstration, the public Sovereign Chain achieved a throughput of 77,000 transactions per second (TPS), with ongoing efforts to reach 100,000 TPS. This performance significantly surpasses the real-world throughput of other leading blockchains like Solanaโ.
Sovereign Chains offer a unified interchain experience, enabling seamless cross-chain operations without the need for traditional bridging or wrapping mechanisms. This approach not only boosts transaction speeds but also enhances interoperability across various Layer 1 networks, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana. By leveraging the existing cross-shard transaction and processing model, Sovereign Chains transform the blockchain ecosystem into a more interconnected and efficient networkโ. https://t.co/T4gcVItScL (2 hours video of knowledge about sovereign chains https://t.co/l2YVYAFJTu).
10. Personal Experience with Layer 1 Blockchains / Comparison
In my comparison of various Layer 1 blockchains, including #Solana (#SOL), (#NEAR), #Avalanche (#AVAX), #Toncoin (#TON), #Cardano (#ADA), #Polkadot (#DOT), #SUI, and others, I tested sending transactions, finding the best wallets, becoming a validator, checking GitHub, checking documentation, comparing market cap vs. traffic on website, tracking community, number of tweets, tracking their team, tracking ecosystem and apps around the ecosystem, using the largest DEXs in their ecosystems, and buying NFTs. Additionally, I compared the whitepapers & saw a lot of reviews/podcasts with founders, underlying technology, ease of use, operational requirements, hardware demands for being a validator, teams, tokenomics, design, UI/UX, and many other factors.
Across all these activities, I found that the UI/UX on MultiversX's ecosystem was the easiest, most pleasant, and most intuitive. This superior user experience led me to establish and successfully run two validator agencies on MultiversX. And I choose #EGLD in every way basically. The second winner for me was NEAR because I like the founders & they have huge adoption with developers, and even though they still don't have fully implemented sharding, they're working hard on that. I don't like so much UI/UX in ecosystem, wallets in the ecosystem cannot be compared to xPortal, as well it's not so easy to become a validator, etc. What I like about NEAR is that they're promoting open-source AGI that should be owned by people https://t.co/LmYyMvr0ZS.

12. Price Expectations (Not Financial Advice).
For MultiversX (EGLD), I expect at least the same valuation as Solana (#SOLANA) currently has, but from a long-term perspective, it could easily reach one trillion, similar to (BTC) now, if they maintain the same development pace and succeed in driving adoption. This would mean a 75-100x increase from the current price, reaching a same or slightly higher market cap than Solana.
From #xExchange (#MEX) and their native token, I expect at least a 1 billion USD market cap, and it will return to its previous all-time high, which even a relatively simple (to me, unremarkable) game like Axie Infinity (AXS) has achieved today. Successful meme coins have valuations over 1 billion, as the crypto market is totally irrational. Returning to the ATH means a 182.2x increase.
I consider (MEX), the native token of xExchange (DEX) built by the team with the best UI/UX, to be a key project in the ecosystem. I also believe that as EGLD grows in the long term, MEX will rise as well, and the team will not let this project sink, as it would severely damage their reputation. I am convinced that if MEX were to fail, EGLD would follow. Therefore, I believe in this project and expect much higher multiples from it compared to the native token.
People are not interested in technology because in crypto we have a lot of nerds and very few normal people from Web2 who want to use #Web3 just like #Web2โthey just want to take advantage of openness and #decentralization. But sooner or later, they will have to start caring, and those who understood the technology will ride the winning wave. Just like those who, at the beginning of the internet, understood #Amazon, #Apple, or #Shopify when it was starting in 2015. People don't see the value in technology because they are only in crypto for trading or gambling, but the biggest money is made by holding what you understand and waiting, doing nothing.
People buy #memecoins that have no value, and these #meme coins have a higher valuation than MultiversX. The same goes for games or small projects running on ETH or SOL, which slowly have a higher valuation than the entire MultiversX ecosystem. This is completely irrational, and sooner or later, the price will have to adjust; you'll see for yourselves.
Let's continue building the community around the #MultiversX ecosystem and share why (#EGLD) is 10 years ahead of others. Let's study whitepapers, test applications, test wallets, and explore how the whole thing works instead of just shilling coins on Twitter, gambling in crypto casino/trading shitcoins & using leverage, and buying another nonsensical 1000x project that brings nothing and is hyped by someone on YouTube.
A big shoutout to the entire team, especially @BeniaminMincu, @LucianMincu, @SasuRobert@AdrianDobrita@iulian_pascalau@AdrianDobrita@serb_daniel@lcswillems@sergiubiris + all devs, and the whole MvX team, including their validators and @DBCrypt0, which continuously strives to educate and advance the community, for all that you do! Thank you!
Honestly, I don't understand how team managed to achieve everything outlined in their whitepaper and implement it into the mainnet as early as 2021, creating such a vast ecosystem without relying on paid marketing, YouTubers, influencers, or having massive VC backing. It must have been an enormous amount of stress, late nights, pain, and daily discipline, and because of that, I have immense respect for everyone on the team.
The biggest challenge for #EGLD now is explaining to people how this technology solves numerous problems and demonstrating it in practice. We need to find more builders who will develop real #Web3 applications that achieve mass adoption. Weโll show them through actions, not words.
Those of you who don't see how undervalued EGLD is and don't recognize it as a perfect investment opportunity must be blind. Don't just look at the charts; try using it first and compare it with others chains.
Apes together, strong.
Let's build and maintain a long-term mindset. We're here for decades. Dare to believe.
