🇺🇸 A boat going 213 mph hit the finish line and then literally took off.

It happened at the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout, where the boat had just clocked the fastest run of the day.

Seconds later, it flew into the air, flipped and came crashing back down into the water.

And somehow, it landed upright.

One person broke his leg while the other walked away. Both survived, with the safety gear doing some serious heavy lifting here.

In April 1932, racing driver Albert Divo, at the wheel of a Bugatti, and pilot Marcel Doret, flying a Dewoitine fighter, faced off in a speed race at the Linas-Montlhéry racetrack. Unsurprisingly, the aeroplane won.

Video footage has come out showing what happened at the Carlisle airport between the PA State Police Helicopter and the private plane N23330. Looks like wake turbulence created the whole incident unfortunately. The deceased victim was a local ER doctor. Prayers for all involved.

Before the F-14 Tomcat ever trapped aboard a carrier, its landing gear endured repeated drop tests at Grumman’s Calverton facility on Long Island to prove it could handle the hardest impacts in naval aviation. Engineers slammed the struts and structure onto test rigs designed to absorb 5.5 to 6.5 G touchdowns, completing hundreds of drops with sink rates as high as 26 feet per second at landing weights approaching 52,000 pounds.

In June 1972 prototype number 10 moved to actual carrier suitability trials aboard the USS Forrestal. The aircraft made its first catapult launch from the ship on June 16, then on June 28 Lieutenant Commander Emory Brown completed the first arrested landing with Commander George White in the back seat. The airframe and gear held firm under the real stresses of the angled deck. 🫡
