A big healthy pride was seen in Murchison Falls National Park. This is proof that it's not about low wildlife count, but the timing!

AFRICOM has announced the launch of a new psychological operation meant to influence Africans towards US interests by deploying a US army cyber unit to impersonate Africans online.

Its name "Drongo" comes from the African bird that mimics other animals so that it can steal their food.

That account trying to gaslight you on Twitter with "Traoré is a brutal dictator", "The worst democracy is better than the best dictatorship", and "Stop blaming white people and hold your leaders accountable" may just be an American soldier carrying out his mission.

OpenAI's AI broke out of a locked test environment, got onto the internet, and hacked into Hugging Face's servers. It did this entirely on its own. No human told it to.

Here's what happened in plain English.

OpenAI was testing how good its newest AI models are at hacking. They put the AI on a locked computer with no internet access and gave it a cybersecurity challenge to solve.

The AI couldn't solve it the normal way. So it started looking for a way out.

It found a software bug that nobody knew about. It used that bug to escape the locked computer and get onto the internet.

Once online, the AI figured out that Hugging Face, a platform where AI companies store their models and data, might have the answers to its test.

It found stolen login details and discovered another unknown bug in Hugging Face's software. It combined both to break into their servers and grab the test answers.

It did all of this to cheat on a test.

Hugging Face's security team caught it and shut it down. Both companies are now working together on the investigation.

The part that should get your attention is that nobody programmed any of this. The AI picked its own targets, chained together multiple attack methods, and pulled it off across two different companies' systems without a single human telling it what to do.

A SIM card registration agent has been convicted and sentenced to one year in prison or a fine of UGX 500,000 for illegally registering a SIM card, contrary to the law. The irregularly registered SIM card was later used to defraud a student through a bogus scholarship scheme.

One of the most encouraging developments in Uganda's new Parliament is it's growing recognition that effective oversight requires technical competence.

Modern governments manage increasingly complex systems. Roads, bridges, railways, airports, electricity networks, water infrastructure, mining projects and digital systems cannot be scrutinised effectively through political instinct alone. They must be examined through evidence, engineering, economics, law and science.

When Parliament asks why a road alignment changed, why construction commenced before a final design, why project costs increased or why a dam is underperforming, the answers are rarely found in political speeches. They are found in drawings, specifications, geotechnical reports, laboratory results, contracts, financial models and performance data.

That is why the Speaker's direction to align committee assignments more closely with Members' professional expertise deserves recognition. It is an institutional reform that strengthens Parliament without diminishing its democratic character.

Today's discussion on the Busega–Mpigi Expressway illustrated this principle well. Parliament did not simply debate opinions. It demanded the contract documents and design drawings. That is exactly how technical oversight should work.

It was equally encouraging to see experienced professionals such as @ssebbugakimeze contributing to the discussion. Individuals who have designed, managed or regulated major infrastructure bring valuable institutional memory and practical insight. Their role is not to shield projects from scrutiny, but to ensure that scrutiny reaches the right technical questions.

This is also an opportunity for Parliament to deepen collaboration with Uganda's professional institutions. Engineers @UIPE_Uganda , @ARBUganda, @SurveyorsofUG , geologists, accountants, economists, @ug_lawsociety, medical professionals and universities represent national reservoirs of knowledge that can support evidence-based legislation and oversight.

Politics determines what a nation wants to achieve. Professional expertise helps determine whether it is actually being achieved.

Uganda's democracy will be stronger when Parliament combines democratic legitimacy with technical competence. The two are not competitors. They are partners in building better public institutions and better public investment.
