Emergency rescue crews are working around the clock to contain major flood barriers after torrential rains brought by the remnants of #TyphoonDolphin across #China's #Henan Province. More than 200 personnel from China Anneng Group, a construction engineering company, were deployed along with 110 sets of large engineering machinery and equipment, including powered pontoon bridges, amphibious excavators and loaders. Local firefighters, armed police and volunteer militias are also on the ground.
Henan province has been hit by heavy rainfall. In Yuzhou, floodwater broke through the wall of a residential complex’s underground garage, sending large amounts of water and bricks rushing inside.
Indian tourists take China by storm. They share a public reel at Forbidden City Palace in Beijing to the song “Mera Naam Chin Chin Chu.” This song is widely criticized as racist and offensive, relying heavily on orientalist tropes. Disrespecting a country as a tourist is not okay
Terrifying CCTV angle capturing the exact moment a violent tornado rips through China, instantly shattering doors and windows with ferocious winds and sending a hailstorm of glass flying across the room. A shocking display of raw, destructive power.
The human spirit is capable of some incredible things.
Japanese violinist Manami Ito lost her right arm in a traffic accident at just 20 years old. She had played violin since childhood and thought that part of her life was over.
It wasn't.
Using a specially designed prosthetic attachment, she taught herself how to play again.
But her story goes far beyond music.
Ito became a nurse, represented Japan as a Paralympic swimmer at Beijing 2008 and London 2012, and eventually performed violin at the Tokyo Paralympics opening ceremony.
She didn't simply learn how to live with what happened to her.
She kept finding new ways to do the things everyone, including herself at one point, thought were no longer possible.
Sometimes the limits of the human spirit aren't discovered until life gives us every reason to quit. ❤️
THIS ROBOT JUST COST LESS THAN YOUR $48,000-A-YEAR SALES REP. AND IT DOESN'T WORK ON COMMISSION.
285,800 yuan. about $40,000. sold through a car dealership, next to the SUVs - not as a prototype, as a product with a price.
Mornine walks the floor at Auto China in Beijing. men in suits step in beside it and hold up a peace sign for someone's phone. the crowd films. it keeps walking.
nobody on that floor is shopping for a car.
if you've ever worked a showroom you know the rhythm. nine hours on your feet. you smile at forty people to close one. your rent depends on the last week of the month.
it works the full show. there is no last week of the month.
the honest catch: this is a greeter. it walks, poses, runs a script. it can't value a trade-in, kill a financing objection, or calm down a guy whose warranty just expired. the job is not gone.
it doesn't need to be. automotive margins are reportedly down to 4.1%, Chery is a volume brand with no moonshot budget, and nearly 20 automakers are now racing to put a humanoid on a floor. at 4.1% nobody buys a mascot.
everyone else is building the impressive one. Chery priced the boring one.
