NOW: #US vetoes yet another #UNSC draft resolution that would have demanded an immediate, unconditional and permanent ceasefire in #Gaza and would have reiterated demand for the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages. This despite the E10 removing Chapter 7 language from text which would have seen the council determine that the situation in the Gaza Strip and the regional escalation constitute a threat to international peace and security (which they clearly do). All other SC members voted in favor of the draft resolution.

Expenditure on nuclear weapons is, in the words of the late Desmond Tutu, "an outrageous theft of public resources ... No one should be profiting from this terrible industry of death, which threatens us all."

This was a cool moment. First time in history that #Palestine can introduce its own draft resolution thanks to #UNGA recently enhancing its rights and privileges as an observer state.

As we prepare for the next pandemic, countries of the Global South need to strengthen collaboration with each other to protect and save their people. Solidarity saves lives.
Over the past 60 years, Cuba has sent more than 600,000 doctors to assist people in 164 countries, including during the COVID-19 pandemic, with more than 20,000 health workers working in 56 countries today.
Cuba has consistently shared the fruits of its well-developed biotechnical industry with Global South countries, exporting hundreds of millions of vaccines overseas every year to more than 40 countries.
Cuba was the world’s first country to virtually eliminate vertical transmission of HIV and its public health model has resulted in the world’s best doctor-patient ratio.
I have seen for myself on my visit to Cuba last month, how this Caribbean island nation, stymied by external economic restraints, has achieved such remarkable results.

“A few people in the paddock have told me I look very serious recently. I have a resting face, where I look like I am in a mood.”
“But the reality is that I’m happy. Today’s performance and the Sprint shows that I’m in a good state of mind!”
