Absolute chaos, scuffles at the Mumbai T2 airport. Autos refuse passengers, demand more than fare, despite it being a pick-up point. Mumbai’s mostly-absent traffic police missing, as always.
@MTPHereToHelp’s descent into an hopelessly inefficient force feared by none, perceived as corrupt by all, is remarkable. @CSMIA_Official
@MMRDAOfficial Why can't I recharge my SBI metro card at ANY station? Tried recharging on the Mumbai Line 1 and was told it only works on the Red Line. Same metro network, same card why the restriction? Also, why no option to recharge online using my phone number or card number?
Me trying to apply for PCC certification online🥲 website crashed me again🥲🥲 Hey @MumbaiPolice your portal needs urgent maintenance.! Citizens are struggling with basic online services. Sort thus out please #MumbaiPolice4All#MumbaiPolice
Good education is a luxury - which middle class can not afford
My daughter will start Grade 1 next year, and this is the fee structure of one of the schools we are considering in our city. Note that other good schools also have similar fees.
- Registration Charges: ₹2,000
- Admission Fees: ₹40,000
- Caution Money (Refundable): ₹5,000
- Annual School Fees: ₹2,52,000
- Bus Charges: ₹1,08,000
- Books & Uniform: ₹20,000
Total: ₹4,27,000 per year!
This is the price of quality education in India. Can you afford it even if you earn 20 lakh a year? - NO!!!
Why? Because 50% of your $20k income is extorted by the government in form of Income Tax, GST, VAT on petrol, Road tax, Toll Tax, Professional tax, Capital Gain, Land Registry charges and so on. Then you still have to pay for term insurance, health insurance premiums, and PF, NPS for a old age pension. At 20L income you fall in the highest 30% + CESS tax bracket, do not qualify for government schemes, and do not receive any freebies or loan waivers like rich.
In the remaining ₹10L, Either you can h ave food, clothes, pay rent or EMIs, and save something or you can pay school fees for your two kids ... decide!!
Which one would you choose?
Sensex in year 2004 : 4800
Sensex in year 2014 : 25000
Growth Percentage : 425%
Sensex in year 2014 : 25000
Sensex in year 2024 : 75000
Growth Percentage : 200%
I'm not a Congress supporter but BJP is flexing on Sensex figures so thought of calculating them myself 🙏🏻
"LGBT characters should only be played by actors from the LGBT community"
This is an opinion voiced by members within and outside of the queer community and I get the intent; the emotion behind this.
The need for representation is extremely important.
But in today's world where awareness is still a scarce resource, what would you choose:
A) representation & authenticity?
Or
B) Reach & Awareness?
It is one thing for @mammukka , a 72-year old superstar who's a household name for an entire populace to even take up such a character, considering what his peers are doing.
And to then play it with such beauty, grace, restraint & vulnerability, turning the character into a broken man living within a broken shell within a broken shell within a broken shell like a fragile Matryoshka doll...until the pressure breaks those cracks wide open.
Maybe films don't immediately change society but they spark conversation, and I can't imagine a better way to plant the seed of empathy that will bear the fruit of dialogue and someday, progress.

3 instances when life threw me a lucky break:
1/
Age 18
Missed the IIT admission, ended up at Delhi University instead.
Met my future wife there.
If I made it to IIT, we would never have crossed paths!
2/
Age 27
Randomly bumped into a batchmate from ISB who had started a new venture.
Offered to help alongside my day job.
If we hadn't met that evening, I'd still be waiting for the "right moment" to become an entrepreneur!
3/
Age 40
Lockdown hit, corporate talks (my only income stream after resigning from my startup) vanished.
With 5 months of savings left, a friend suggested moving the talks online.
That chat opened my eyes to the power of online teaching.
Blind luck transformed into intentional action.
Because we cannot measure luck, we often disregard it.
Or worse, use it to explain something that we can't ourselves.
However, both these approaches leave us powerless.
I firmly believe that luck is influenced by YOU.
Reflect on your life's fortunate moments, dig deeper, and see if you laid the groundwork for that luck.
It could be a network of helpful batchmates.
A chance meeting with a stranger.
A cold email that fetched a reply.
Embrace those actions as habits.
Don't make them random.
Make them permanent.
Increase your chances for lucky breaks.
We can't predict what will work, but we can surely increase the chances of something working out, by simply doing them everyday.
As a Finance Educator, I am 100% okay being regulated by SEBI.
[1] If they wish me to write an exam, I am okay doing it.
[2] If they wish me to show my audited PnL, I am okay doing that.
[3] My request would be that: even the mainstream media, where folks frequently discusses about stocks/ other financial products, should be upheld to the same standards & scrutiny.
Educated, competent folks, who have nothing to hide, should not be scared. This includes EVERYBODY.
Additionally, the process of getting a SEBI licence should be streamlined & simplified.

If you died, your manager would put out a job posting in 48 hours looking for a replacement.
Your friends and family will never get that chance.
As much as your job is necessary, do not ignore the relationships where you remain irreplaceable.
I have maintained a daily morning routine for 5+ years now, with dramatic results.
1. No loss of energy; no tiredness
2. I am actively present through the day
3. It helps me compound the most important things for me
It starts with the previous night...
