Africa CDC and @CEPIvaccines co-hosted a Validation Workshop focused on establishing a Regional Access and Supply Consortium for Vaccine Manufacturing Input Materials. This initiative brought together key manufacturers, suppliers, and partners to develop a market-driven approach that enhances access to essential inputs, streamlines procurement, and strengthens Africa’s manufacturing resilience.
Participants confirmed the consortium’s significance and feasibility, endorsed its governance and service priorities, and agreed on a Tier-1 list of input materials for initial rollout. The workshop also addressed operational priorities, financing, and alignment with the African Pooled Procurement Mechanism (#APPM).
This milestone sets a clear path forward for robust regional supply chains, sustainable vaccine manufacturing, and the advancement of Africa’s Health Security and Sovereignty Agenda.

Today, VC Prof. Kayihura M. Didas, received a delegation from Africa CDC led by Tesfaye Hailemichael (Head of the Africa CDC Supply Chain Division), for strategic engagement on advancing collaboration between our/EAC Centre of Excellence for Vaccines, Immunization and Health Supply Chain Management [@EacRceVihscm] and @AfricaCDC.
Discussions reflected shared goals of improving health and humanitarian supply chain management capacity building in #Africa. Once concluded, the collaboration will support the development and delivery of professional courses aligned with the Public Health Emergency Supply Chain (PHESC) Competency Framework and humanitarian logistics.
We look forward to this exciting partnership.
@AfricaCDC unveiled its first warehouse, enhancing the agency’s ability to procure, store and dispatch critical medical supplies across the continent.
The 1,000‑square‑metre temporary warehouse, together with complementary cold chain equipment, was funded by the @MastercardFdn and supported by @WFP, whose @_AfricanUnion Global Office Director a.i., Lydie Kouame (@LydieK13), hailed the initiative as “a powerful example of what strong partnerships can deliver.”
Africa CDC Deputy Director General Dr Raji Tajudeen (@MohdTajudeen) said the new facility, located at its HQ in Addis Ababa, means “we now have what it takes to respond in the most efficient and timely manner to disease outbreaks.”
African women are burning their wigs and now choosing their natural hair with confidence.
In this video, Zahra Haidara burns her wig as a statement and encourages other women to openly embrace their roots with pride.
Will Nigerian women participate?
“If President Donald Trump is what God will use to answer Nigeria’s prayers, let him quickly come please. Since all these, our Generals Overseer and church leaders are all muted. Many people don’t understand Nigeria. We are a country but different nations.”
—Pastor Femi Emmanuel
“More money for value — and more value for money.”

At #CPHIA2025 in Durban, I reaffirmed that Africa’s leadership is reshaping the global health architecture, not as a participant, but as a co-architect of a fairer, safer, and more self-reliant world.
With the strength and spirit of 1.4 billion Africans, we are building resilient health systems, grounded in dignity, innovation, and solidarity, and sustained by Africans, for Africans.
When Africa stands strong, the world becomes safer.
Our journey toward health sovereignty is both our responsibility and our collective commitment.

Mental health is too often overlooked in Africa: limited data, low budgets, and weak integration into primary health care leave millions without the support they need.
I’m encouraged to see Equatorial Guinea taking important steps forward.
At @AfricaCDC, we are committed to ensuring mental health is treated as a public health priority — for Africa, and for the world.

This is Erika Kirk’s full eulogy for Charlie. It’ll leave you with chills. She has Charlie’s heart and ability to connect with everyone on a personal level where it doesn’t seem like there’s a stadium of people around. Almost no one could meet this moment. She absolutely did. ❤️
I listened to Erika Kirk’s full speech at the memorial, and I want to share a few thoughts that came to me while live streaming the event. This is not political.
First, I should say that I grew up as a Muslim in a Muslim country. I don’t know enough about Christianity to say if what I witnessed is rooted in faith or culture. But what struck me most was how, even though death is heavy and this was by nature a sad occasion, the entire event carried a celebratory spirit that honored life.
That contrast hit me deeply. In Islam, even though we believe that good people go to heaven, the relationship with God is taught through fear. Funerals are overwhelmingly sad, often filled with warnings of the terrifying first night in the grave. Growing up hearing that, and then witnessing people celebrate life, speak of God’s love, and remember someone through the impact he had on others; it felt so refreshing, so positive.
Second, I was profoundly moved by @MrsErikaKirk’s words. I cannot fathom the strength it takes to stand and deliver such a meaningful speech after losing the love of your life. But even more than that, the grace it takes to forgive the very person who destroyed your world. I cannot imagine myself standing on a stage, sending love to those who cheered your husband’s murder, or inviting others to spread God’s love in response because, as she said, “we do not respond to hate with hate.” That is powerful beyond words.
Again, I am ignorant when it comes to Christianity, but if this is what it truly embodies, then I am envious of those who get to experience that feeling.
Be part of shaping Africa’s health future.
