Krishnan, Secretary, MeitY, graced the inaugural session of the Pre-Summit Event hosted by STPI Chennai, in association with IITM Pravartak Technologies Foundation and Tamil Nadu Technology Hub (iTNT), as the Keynote Speaker, sharing valuable perspectives on the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Key highlights from the address of Shri S. Krishnan, Secretary, MeitY are:

➡️The Pre-Summit events across the country are creating strong national momentum leading up to the India-AI Impact Summit 2026 (February 2026). These engagements reflect the depth of action, collaboration, and preparedness across institutions and sectors.
➡️Chennai is a global backbone for Banking and Financial Services (BFSI). AI adoption in BFSI is expected to be early, deep, and transformative, improving productivity, service quality, and innovation.
➡️IIT Madras anchors key national and global AI initiatives. Its contribution to talent, research, and incubation is pivotal to India’s AI ecosystem
➡️STPI is leading the AI Expo alongside the Summit (16–20 February 2026). The Expo will showcase Indian AI innovations, startups, and use cases to global audiences. Startups and innovators are encouraged to participate through STPI platforms.
➡️India ranks 3rd globally in the Stanford AI Vibrancy Index. It is the only developing country in the top tier. India ranks highest globally in AI skill penetration.
➡️AI represents a new Y2K moment—a massive opportunity for job creation, application development, and productivity gains. AI will enhance human capability rather than replace it. Cognitive jobs will transform, but new roles and opportunities will emerge.
➡️India must develop its own AI models to Capture linguistic and cultural diversity and ensure technological sovereignty. Indigenous initiatives like ShaktiDB are critical steps.
