A ground check in Bihar has exposed major gaps in the Election Commission’s voter list verification.
In Katihar, Purnia, Madhuban, and Harsidhi, over 1.5 lakh voters were found registered at just 1,200–1,300 households. One small house had 274 voters, a temple was shown with 153 voters, and in many cases, residents said they did not know most of the names listed at their addresses.
The Election Commission’s SIR exercise fell short of a proper house-to-house check, raising serious doubts about the integrity of the voter rolls.

The credibility of India’s electoral process hinges on the credibility of its voter rolls. The ECI’s #BiharSIR – an exercise to verify the eligibility of 79 million voters – was meant to ensure this accuracy.
It has fallen short.🧵

These discrepancies leave room for serious doubt over the care with which the commission is conducting the electoral process. At risk is the integrity of the upcoming polls in Bihar.

@SubinSiby Ever since I first played GTA Vice City as a kid, I've been imagining having a similar game with Kerala environment and go through life stuff instead of violent missions lol.
