Why is healthcare the ONLY sector where everyone expects premium service at bargain prices—and then blames the doctor or hospital?

And somehow, the biggest “crime” in healthcare today seems to be that doctors are earning money or hospitals are making profits. Earning in healthcare has almost become a stigma.

If healthcare is unaffordable, ask the bigger question: Why isn’t the government spending enough to make public healthcare the obvious choice?

Why are government hospitals overcrowded, understaffed and poorly equipped?

Instead of obsessing only over private-hospital margins, ask:

Why should a patient NEED a private hospital in the first place?

Build world-class government hospitals. Fund them. Equip them. Staff them.

Make public healthcare so good that nobody feels compelled to go private.

Fix the infrastructure first. Debate the markups next.

@DrAditya2935 Sir , also the poor quality of infrastructure and limited resources and limited doctors and PGs at Government colleges is what leading to toxicity and putting everyone into trouble even forcing many students with top 3k rank choose KMC Manipal over average govt colleges .

Sir, with due respect, profit is not a dirty word just because it is earned by a hospital.

You should be asking why A 5-star hotel charges ₹500–700 for a coffee and ₹20,000–50,000 for a room because you’re paying for far more than coffee or a bed.
I don't see you shutting them down

Then why do we pretend healthcare infrastructure should somehow operate for free?

Patients entering corporate hospitals expect the best doctors, trained nurses available immediately, 24×7 emergency care, ICUs, expensive equipment, infection control, private rooms and premium infrastructure.

Who pays for all of this?

India doesn’t have universal healthcare. Private hospitals aren’t endlessly subsidised by the government. Yet we expect them to invest hundreds of crores, pay thousands of employees, maintain expensive infrastructure—and then apologise for making a profit.

If a hospital cheats patients, overcharges deceptively or follows unethical practices, investigate it and punish it brutally.

But stop confusing profitability with profiteering.

A profitable hospital isn’t automatically an unethical hospital.

If we demonise every hospital that makes money, don’t be surprised when nobody wants to invest in building good hospitals.
