Wanted to chime in on our journey here and shine more light on the mechanisms ⏬

First off, @Punk9277 and the entire Kaito team (@sandraleow @jiwoo_jun etc.) have been absolutely phenomenal to work with.

We have been users of the platform since August 2024 and weigh many decisions based on the quality of data leveraged from their platform.

It really is top notch.

Everyone working on Quai has been astutely aware of the importance of social engagement and distribution since the inception of the project in 2022 (especially for a Layer-1). Our attempts at doing this date back to our Social Media Reward dashboard that aggregated Twitter (pre-egregious API costs), Reddit, TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube engagement.

It was pretty hacky since our main engineering effort was focused on building an entire Layer-1 but it was quick, dirty, and did the job.

So we're glad to see the torch carried on by Kaito in a more performant and robust way 😆

Jumping into the show commentary

Overall, this roll out for the proportional allocation of smart followers is one small part of the entire testnet campaign but has turned out to be one of the more impactful.

This goes to show that the classic "show me the incentive, I'll show you the outcome" applies more than ever.

As the L1/L2 space continues to heat up and get more competitive (Bera, Monad, Abstract, etc.), our main goal is to get $QUAI into as many hands as possible in a non sybil-able way.

The best way to ensure sybil resistance here is proven social graphs with quality data. So combining this with on chain metrics we actually have a pretty good filter on how to distribute $QUAI to those who are the loudest, have been in the Quai community, and have the potential to help us grow.

On building community

As of today, the Quai Yapper Leaderboard is now live and shows the overview of who is talking about Quai.

Now with this data, we can directly see how the community is evolving over time in public.

Our goal with this data is to fill in the edges to move from hype to community.

Post leaderboard launch as well, it will get more and more easier for everyone on that leaderboard to see who is in the community, follow them, and reinforce the edges.

In fact as the community grows I would hope and expect to see @basedPavel, @mechanikalk, and myself actually dethroned from top 3 yappers in the community. Not from our lack of yapping on ourside but just from others absolutely crushing it.

Everyone working on Quai is excited to see how this evolves, especially with the community taking on more and more mindshare versus founders.

With Mainnet this month, I believe Quai is uniquely positioned to not only leverage this data but move very quickly into the second order effects of this program with the token being live.
