Qwen2.5-Math-7B being trained on NuminaMath-TIR with OpenR1 from huggingface. One of the most surprising things with R1 style GRPO is the bigger models are quite stable to train with RL train.

Coming from the trauma of struggling to train gym cartpoles with less than a few million params, this is quite a big change in mindset for RL dynamics. Both starting with a strong policy and simpler GRPO, the models are slowly able to learn to optimize the rewards.

The models do really want to learn and we have unlocked the next frontier. 🚀
