Congratulations @doleynik3 ! can't help myself from thinking how exciting it is to be a surgeon. Get to see the intersection where history, future, curiosity and boldness meet
Got to see Elvis Presley's Harley, Michael Jackson's Thriller jacket, friends from residency all grown up, and meet new connects in the colorectal world. Winning.
#SAGES2024
🚀 A surgical robot at the @NASA International Space Station completed its first surgery demo in zero gravity on Saturday. ACS Fellow Dr. Michael Jobst was part of the team remotely operating from the ground in Lincoln, Nebraska.
The story from @CNN 👇 https://t.co/j5hbP2JMDD
Surgery resident calls out grand rounds speaker and ACGME CEO for "hurtful" comments, thanks his chair and resident for support (in a weaponized manner), and demands a response/apology from the ACGME.
Reposted 75 times, liked 350 times despite pretty much nobody actually knowing what the guy said (and in what context).
Another surgeon who's known the speaker (and his dedication to medical education) for years comes to his defense, gets 13,000 views and a resultant 15 likes.
Social media is so gross. We all assume the worst, simplify things into buckets of good and evil, make snap judgments without a shred of research, then attack people without any concern for consequences. There's a huge ripple effect (in an unpredictable manner), sometimes it blows over, sometimes people's lives are ruined, but it's irrelevant to the mob, as our attention span is short and we've already moved on to the next offending incident.
Whether or not the GR speaker was truly hurtful, the way we all decide about his worth and then demand a consequence is extremely dangerous.
We're kicking off our final day of #OCC2023 with an exciting agenda including didactic presentations and interactive sessions on all things colorectal. Follow us here for highlights and share your insights from the day.
Couldn't feel more inspired as a colorectal surgeon in training after meeting and learning from our distinguished guest surgeon, the @KnolJoep , who makes surgery look like strokes of art.
