Trump is now attacking the Pope for speaking out against war while posting images of himself as a messianic figure.
This is not only offensive. It is deranged, egomaniacal behavior.
When will Republicans in Congress stop blindly following this dangerous and unhinged man?
Everyone praising Mark Carney’s speech as “bold,” “brave,” or “eloquent,” and treating it as evidence that the West can still rescue itself, is still misunderstanding the nature of the crisis.
The “rules-based international order” didn’t erode gradually or mysteriously; it collapsed the moment Western governments showed that the rules don’t apply when the violator is an ally. Gaza didn’t expose a weakness in the system that could be patched or repaired; it revealed what the system actually is.
For two years, the Western world didn’t merely fail to restrain Israel; it funded it, armed it, vetoed accountability, rewrote legal standards in real time, and criminalized dissent at home. International law was selectively suspended, not overwhelmed like some people want to say, and once legality becomes conditional, the concept itself ceases to exist.
That was the real point of no return in 2023. Not because Donald Trump violating the sovereignty of Greenland broke the order, but because the precedent was set in full view of the world: mass killing can be lawful if it’s committed by the right state, against the right people, with the right patrons. After that, no appeal to “norms” or “institutions” can be taken seriously again.
Don’t gaslight yourselves into thinking that Carney is offering a path to renewal here; he’s delivering a sophisticated obituary. You can’t rebuild credibility with speeches after showing that the law is optional. Anyone treating this as a hopeful turning point is as delusional as a person watching their house burn and believing better fire alarms will restore the structure.
It’s already over. And as the Western order fractures under the weight of its own contradictions, Gaza won’t be a footnote to its collapse. It’ll be remembered as the moment the world finally understood that the system had died long before anyone admitted it.
If someone tries to run you over, and you shoot them to prevent it, that’s self-defense.
If you kind of but not really almost get hit by a car because you’re standing near the front corner, harassing a driver with no actual legal authority, and then once you’re out of harms way, you shoot the driver… you’re just a murderer who made your own uniform.
AMEC marks Arabic Language Day by honoring the role of Arabic in education, culture, and dialogue across Asia and the Middle East. The language carries long traditions of knowledge and exchange.
Ms. Rachel is one of the kindest humans in public life who has preached nothing but love for all children, everywhere. She hasn't uttered a cruel word toward anyone, let alone antisemitism.
This absolute garbage sets back the fight against antisemitism. What an embarrassment. No idea why anyone would take this account seriously.
Exactly two years ago, the University of Ottawa suspended me from my medical residency training in public health because of social media posts in support of Palestinian human rights. They framed my social media posts as “unprofessional”. The irony being that I studied the impacts of settler colonialism on health in Palestine during my public health training. They messed with the wrong person.
They later reinstated me, without any apology, so I left their racist institution to put my time and energy to places and people who actually deserve it. It’s been a year since I filed a human rights complaint against the university, and they continue to try to dismiss the case with frivolous motions with factual inaccuracies, but the court seems to acknowledge the value in hearing the case. It is blatant discrimination on basis of anti-Palestinian racism. I’m taking them (and the faculty member who doxxed me) to a provincial human rights tribunal to seek accountability and justice.
To anyone else who is facing similar forms of repression for solidarity with Palestine - remember you are on the right side of history. To stand against genocide is the most decent and moral position to take. To oppose genocide as a healthcare worker is the most professional position to take. Keep your head held high. The institutions will come around when there is no political or economic cost to oppose genocide. Until then, we will keep persisting and pushing back against bullies and racist institutions. Free Palestine, from the river to the sea.
Yes, it’s only one candidate in one race. But tonight, in the largest US city, @ZohranKMamdani defeated not only the former Governor, but also the most powerful and nefarious political forces in the country, tens of millions of dollars in anti-Zohran spending, an unprecedented campaign of racist and Islamophobic attacks, lies, and smears, the billionaire oligarchs, the real estate lobby, the Zionist lobby, the Wall Street robber barons, the corrupt Democrat and Republican parties, the super pacs, corporate media, and the US President, proving that the rapid US slide into fascism is not inevitable, the empire is not invulnerable, and it is not too late to fight back. This is what they feared most. Congratulations to Zohran. Now it’s time for millions across the country to pick up the torch.
To me, Dick Cheney will be remembered most for getting utterly humiliated by Sacha Baron Cohen on Who is America. Fitting legacy, to say the least. Now burn in hell.
The so-called "peace brokers" can thump their chests and say the war is over, but there was never a war to begin with was there? It's been an occupation, apartheid, genocide... From the very beginning.
THAT is far from over.
This is a disgraceful statement. Palestinians have been mourning their murdered children, husbands, fathers, wives, mothers, for 2 years now. If you want to talk about respecting grief, then respect the grief and pain of everyone - equally.
I urge anyone thinking about protesting this weekend to recognise and respect the grief of British Jews.
This is a moment of mourning. It is not a time to stoke tension and cause further pain. It is a time to stand together.
We are a country that welcomes all people, no matter their faith, to stand under the same flag as neighbours and friends.
That is who we are and who we will always be. Hatred and violence will never win.
Israel: We are not starving Palestinians, Hamas are
Flotilla: Ok, we will sail to Palestine and directly feed Palestinians
Israel: That makes you Hamas
Flotilla: But you just said Hamas are starving Palestinians?
Israel: 💥 💥 💥
A Turkish civilian captain of the Mikeno ship was able to make a complete mockery of the multi-billion dollar Zionist Navy, evading capture and entering Gaza's waters.
They may actually make it to land. It's glorious. God bless!
I write as former Head of Maritime Section of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office
and Alternate Head of UK Delegation to the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea Prepcom.
1) The flotilla is on the High Seas and not in Israel's 12 mile territorial sea. Israel has no jurisdiction.
2) The Israeli maritime blockade has been in place for 17 years and is an intrinsic part of the long term occupation found illegal in the ICJ advisory opinion
3) It is therefore not a short term measure in time of armed conflict as specified in the San Remo manual
4) In any event the San Remo rules explicitly state that humanitarian supplies may not be blockaded
5) The UN Commission of Inquiry has already determined that Israel is committing genocide. The blockade is plainly a part of the machinery of such genocide.
For reasons 1 to 5 the Israeli attack on the flotilla is plainly illegal.
6) On the High Seas, the law applying on each ship is the law of its flag state. An attack by a state military warship on a vessel on the High Seas is an attack on the flag state of the vessel attacked.
7) Acts of illegal possession of vessels or abduction of crew on the High Seas should be pursued by each flag state as crimes within their domestic jurisdiction, not only in international law.
8) So the Metropolitan Police and DPP have an obligation to investigate and act over the abduction of persons from UK flagged vessels on the High Seas.
This applies to each flag state mutatis mutandi.
I hope you find this helpful.
To everyone celebrating the 50 UN cowards that walked out on the @netanyahu speech. I remind you that when you turn on a light, the roaches always scatter. ❤️🇮🇱
Hannah Einbinder on saying "Free Palestine" in her Emmys acceptance speech.
"It is my obligation as a Jewish person to distinguish Jews from the state of Israel. Our religion and our culture is such an important and long-standing institution that is really separate to this sort of ethnonationalist state." https://t.co/D7ME3jRDEm
“I cannot work with somebody that justifies or supports the genocide, I can’t. That’s as simple as that.”
If you think that’s a controversial statement, it’s because you support Israel’s genocide.
