Cape Verde! Tied 1-1 with the defending World Cup champs in the 60th minute...
You gotta love their story. Doesn't matter the name or the credentials...in the arena everyone has a chance.
The magic of sports.
Take your time getting to the next level
Running is a sport full of levels. Not just levels of fitness, but levels of training.
People often get injured or burn out because they either don't accept their current level or try to jump to the next one too quickly.
Running volume is a good example.
For many adult runners, 0-20 miles per week is the first major level. A 12:00/mile easy pace gets you there on 4 hours of running per week. Very doable.
Going from 20 to 30 miles is harder. Going from 30 to 40 miles is harder still.
Depending on your age and training background, maybe you can move up quickly. Maybe not.
The important thing is that you stay at a level you can consistently absorb.
Long runs are another example. Research suggests one of the leading causes of injury is ramping up long run distance too quickly.
I was mad at myself the other day because my Achilles got pretty sore after I increased my long run from 15 to 17 miles. It reminded me that I wasn't at that level currently (musculoskeletally) despite having done countless 17+ mile runs in earlier years.
That's the other thing about levels: once you reach one, you're not entitled to stay there forever.
You have to own it.
If you stop running for six months like I once did, you don't start where you left off. You go back to a lower level and have to work your way up.
That's why people get injured or burn out. They don't accept their current level. They misjudge their fitness, or get greedy and think more is better, when in fact sustainable improvement is better.
The best long-term runners often aren't the most talented. They're the ones who accept their level, train appropriately, and gradually move up over time.

Yesterday, police CLASHED with THOUSANDS of students, who were protesting in Bandung, Indonesia.
PRES. PRABOWO AND HIS INTERVENTIONIST ECONOMIC POLICIES ARE TANKING THE RUPIAH.
This is the good trend I’d love to see, more and more people are paying attention to the elites. For the most time I feel running in Indo is influenced by the wrong people who promote nothing but overconsumerism. Lets shift the attention towards the people who live off the sports

"The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, but in ourselves..."

@NovaTrackXC’s Marco Langon left it all on the track tonight, finishing 4th in the NCAA Championships 5000m final. Even though he didn’t win, Langon can still appreciate the nature of track and field after his final collegiate race.
