After co-inventing ChatGPT, I kept asking myself: why have superhuman chat models not led to AGI?
I’ve spent the last 2 years in stealth building a new way to train models (RLCD), and a new type of frontier AI model that we are releasing today: Jev
• 20-200x faster
• 40-400x cheaper (w/ output tokens free)
• Frontier composable intelligence optimized for decisions
AFAICT the shortest path to AI-based economic revolution
Dying to use Muse to see how they handled an AI native UX. All others did it on an iMessage. Great place for an MVP but I guess you start feeling a ceiling in what features you can ship after a while.
I don’t buy this “we must slow down the pace of development” from all major AI labs at the same time.
Maybe it has already slowed down and they are just hedging investor expectations?
OAI delayed its IPO too. Looks fishy
Dario Amodei (CEO of Anthropic) is warning that AI is getting smarter so fast that we’re about to outrun our ability to keep it safe.
Elon agrees. They’re basically begging the government and regulators to step in!
Here’s what he’s actually worried about:
> AI systems that can hack computers, take over parts of the internet, and knock out banks or power grids
> AI becoming good enough at science that someone could use it to design dangerous biological weapons
> AI starting to build even smarter AI on its own, until we can no longer understand or control it
> All of this happening faster than governments, laws, and safety research can keep up
Yikes!
Today I learnt about Nevis - a small Caribbean island, an offshore kingdom, a notorious tax haven
I thought “Damn, would be funny to name your AI wealth management startup after this place”
Went to X: ofc it exists. Ex-Revolut executives, raised $40M from Sequoia & Iconiq
"I find it ironic that the status quo is to then turn around and impose restrictive terms on distillation, and to reserve the right to learn from customer usage and interaction data. If learning flows in only one direction, economic value converges toward the owners of the learning infrastructure rather than the creators of the knowledge itself. Therefore, it's imperative that we distribute the learning infrastructure to every firm so that they can control their own learning loop."
Well said.
Some billionaires have a vision on how the society should look like in the future. They are proactive about it even if people don’t agree with them. They do everything to test that vision, including buying politicians to push the agenda they believe in. Result: socialism
Past: Monarchs owned armies to protect their lands
Present: Oligarchs buy politicians to protect their lands
Future: Billionaires form governments to protect their lands
