1000 times *YES*. This is the way forward. Focus on cooperation and open science, not competition. I don't know any uni with a charter to be No1 in some metric, and chasing some incomplete index is to divert from the true mission. May the rest of the world follow.

@plopesresearch Aaaand for that reason, it looks as if short papers typically end up getting the short stick in the selection process 😄 it would be good for @sigchi to consider open reviewing processes where (some?) papers are in DL along with their reviews. This can help towards training.

@YueJiang_nj @jeffbigham @drmaxlwilson Rule of thumb: one study (experiment) is enough for a short paper, but it must be solid (enough n, proper stats, good discussion) and must offer some definite and clear contribution. Of course that's for empirical work only. Unlikely to get theory shorts anyway!
