@AlobhaPatrick Great to see someone pushing this message. I once had PhD psychologist/therapist (not mine) try to get away with "I don't know what it means to disown someone because I've never owned anyone". They found out right then and there.
Oh yes. The irritation when my narc ex would do that and I would say "what" and he would lower his voice even more.
I've also encountered it when someone gets addicted to meth.
I've always had minor hearing impairment, but it's only a select few I consistently can't hear.
It would help if they put in enough effort to be present and take their gaze off the phone, or not talk in the opposite direction.
Yup. They use habitation and a perverted "exposure therapy" to make otherwise normal people both accept their behaviors and to an extent emulate them. Saying things like "I'm just too nice" or "I'm very honest" are serious red flags. Lots to unpack there. I could tell you stories, and clearly you can tell me too.
No, I really don't think so. As far as I understand it, even the DSM indicates that personality pathology is developed early and shows by early adulthood. CPTSD can manifest much later in life. While the DSM doesn't recognize CPTSD, it doesn't mean it isn't real and distinct. The field has been wrong about all kinds of things, like the cause of ulcers, normalizing the mutilation of children following the work of the psychopathic pedofile John Money, and many other things.
@DarrylBywater Man you would have loved my magnum opus. A psycho was abusing a child in my family. I found what the guy wrote anonymously 15 years ago in an online forum. It was some grotesque stuff, but I could tie it to him definitively. He got so scared he gave up.
@publicenemy2024 I have a ridgie. Best dog ever. It's no contest, even people with their own dogs meet him and agree - they wish they had a dog like that.
@OnlyFormHolds What do you mean by reverted?
I think the catharsis of confession, which seems nigh universal, might also play into explaining what he did.
@OnlyFormHolds You were being tested. I'm curious, did it scare you and you said it didn't, or didn't it scare you?
Even the worst people long for connection. The worst love to brag about how bad they are. I can't explain it all, but those are two parts of it, I think.
