I worked as a FDE (Forward Deployment Engineer) for 7 days. This experience taught me enough about why problems cannot be solved *now* sitting in your AC cabin with your macbooks. Here are some facts which might surprise you -

1. Over the course of these 7 days, we didn't even get the time to open our laptops on the field, because you might miss you an important detail while using keyboard, so next day, our systems was in the office and pen-diary was in our hands.

2. Interpersonal skills is most imp when you are at field observing ground ops, because on field you are not a superior/manager/boss, *instead* you're just another tech person walking in to push "yet another software" down their throats. The employees resent you by default and turn introverted the moment they see you coming. Cracking that wall is the real work.

3. If you are a pure introvert or pure extrovert, you won't find success as FDE. Neither extreme will survive.

4. Everyday between 9am-9pm, after wrapping up field observations, we made it a habit to visit office once and revisit all of your notes and feed them into proper documentations so that no detail is missed. We didnt followed this ritual on day 1. on day 2, we remembered only 20% of D1, as D2 was a chaos on itself.

5. Day 1 to 4, I genuinely felt I was on the wrong setting. On day 5, the intuition hit that something can be done here. Day 7, I sketched the entire problem → solution → product. On paper. No Figma, no Notion. Just paper.

6. Coming from a tech + business experience bg, I could spot the workflow gaps, inefficiencies, and optimisation levers that have the capability to save ₹1.15-1.5Cr ($100K-$150K) in losses every FY. That was the wow moment for the CEO.

7. The biggest takeaway?

Problems cannot be solved from a distance now. The nuances, the friction, the unspoken resistance, none of it travels through a Zoom call or a requirements doc. You have to be there. Sweating, listening, observing, getting things wrong, and adjusting in real time.

The field is humbling. It strips away every assumption you walked in with.

10/10 would recommend every founder, PM, and engineer to spend at least one week as an FDE before building anything for a real business.

Claude Mythos Preview - This is big in the software industry.

Anthropic build a new autonomous model - Claude Mythos Preview and trained it specifically to be great at coding, to write code better than any software developer who is at the greatest level.

As a side effect, it was automatically vulnerable and found bugs that no human engineers, cybersecurity researchers spotted in years.

Using this model, a research scientist at Anthropic found more bugs in the last couple of weeks, then the rest of his life combined.

- Mythos found a bug sitting from the last 27 years, in an OS specifically known for security;

- It found a bug in Linux, due to which a user with no access in, could become the administrator by running some binaries;

Currently Mythos is available to Amazon Web Services, Anthropic, Apple, Broadcom, Cisco, CrowdStrike, Google, JPMorganChase, the Linux Foundation, Microsoft, NVIDIA, and Palo Alto Networks via Project Glasswing.

What is invaluable is Mythos has the capability to find bugs, which were never spotted by humans and release the patches for them before any one could find it and exploit for danger.

For the ones who understands this like us, they are actually worried because the world runs on software.

We spent $15,000 on billboards targeting one person: the guy controlling all the chemical spend at a saltwater disposal company in Texas. We mapped his commute and bought every billboard between his house and the oil field. When we finally called, he said "I see your billboards everywhere." That landed us our first oil field contract.
