Such good news- finally! 🍯
A govt crackdown on dodgy suppliers of “honey syrup” - illegally labeled to fool consumers into thinking it’s something bees made - is underway.
They’ve been getting away with this for far too long.
And beware - this is what many cafés give you when you ask for honey.
I’ve just received an email from a S. African woman who was caught by this.
The fraudulent email came amid a stream of genuine https://t.co/DWEn2V5aWz emails about her UK booking.
She lost >R18K.
@bookingcom sent her a warning email but it landed AFTER the scammers’ ones. 😡
I was at Mugg & Bean at the Cape Town airport when my brother called. Weeping he told me my beloved son had died. My tears started rolling down my face and I burst out, "no no no my son has died!" Everyone froze, but not one young man who walked over to me. His eyes were filled with compassion that held me for long enough to gather my things. He offered to pay for my order as I fled sobbing out of the restaurant. He was black and I a middle-aged white man. This is the South Africa that I cherish.
“Thank you for holding, I’ve had a chat with my colleague and explained what’s been going on, he should be able to help you, okay? I’ll just transfer you now…”
One of three things will now happen:
1. You’re transferred to someone who has no idea who you are or what you’ve just been talking about for the last twenty minutes. They say, “I’m not sure why you’ve been put through to me”
2. You’re put on hold and then eventually an automated voice tells you to “listen carefully to the following options…”
3. The line goes dead.
It’s been more than 6 years since the Tiger Brands listeriosis outbreak rocked the nation.
And the victims are still nowhere near getting any compensation.
Gives new meaning to the term 'long tail'
'Dr Steve Chingwaru, a 26-year-old metallurgist... showed the 6 billion tons of tailings around Johannesburg's mines may contain up to 460 tons of so-called “invisible gold”.'
