Hey Jasmine…
Black pilot here.
I think you missed the plot.
Then again, that’s becoming a pattern.
I graduated from West Point.
I went through Army flight school.
I learned to fly the AH-64 Apache.
I deployed to combat and flew 55 combat missions over Baghdad.
Nobody handed me a cockpit because of my skin color.
Nobody lowered the standards for me.
Nobody looked at me and said, “Let’s check a diversity box.”
That’s what people like you don’t seem to understand.
Suggesting that Black pilots, Black engineers, Black doctors, or Black leaders need special preferences to succeed is not empowering, it’s insulting.
I didn’t want a different standard.
I wanted the same standard.
And when you’re flying into combat, the American people don’t care what race the pilot is.
They care whether the pilot is qualified.
Merit isn’t racist.
Excellence isn’t discriminatory.
And reducing every achievement to skin color says far more about your worldview than it does about mine.
Good news Martin O’Neill is staying on as being reported but only if he has the same power as he had first time round as manager. Still so many other aspects need sorting… recruitment? …let’s hope we hear of a clear plan from now on going forward 🍀
Peter & Alan.
Many of us LGB have been warning you for YEARS that this was happening.
We told you there are huge problems ahead, as gender ideology is in direct contradiction to being same-sex attracted.
We told you to stop involving other people’s children.
We told you SO MANY LGB people are sick & tired of being tethered to ideological cheerleaders for Queer Theory.
We told you the homophobia was coming from within the house.
We told you the blatant misogyny would have repercussions.
You all turned a blind eye.
You didn’t listen.
You said “No Debate.”
You branded us ‘bigots’.
Why are you NOW feigning surprise that there is a renewed backlash?
You CAUSED this.
2015. What changed??
Think hard.
“The problem isn’t that a plan has failed, it’s that there was never a plan at all”
Sinéad O’Sullivan is becoming one of the most important voices in Ireland.
Her most recent essay “I is for Immigration” is superb.
But what fascinates me is how quickly her message has crossed into the mainstream.
She is now a regular in Irish Times pieces, David McWilliams podcasts and seems to have been somewhat accepted by “the Left”.
Establishment audiences are now suddenly engaging with points that were dismissed outright as “far right”.
And to be clear, I’m delighted. 😀
It’s everything we’ve been talking about on X for years.
But what’s most impressive is O’Sullivan’s willingness to raise the alarm on the scale and speed of immigration from India. 🇮🇳
She makes the uncomfortable point that the middle class are already feeling competition for housing, healthcare, schools etc.
She stresses that the new EU/India trade deal will make things a lot worse. That our English speaking/US tech scene is a magnate for Indian migrants in the EU.
But how is she able to bring these arguments to mainstream without being outcasted ?
Maybe it’s depth of research?
Maybe it’s her accent or mannerisms?Maybe it’s because she frames immigration within the broader failure of Irish state capacity?
Either way it feels like an adult has finally been allowed into the room.
@SineadOS1 👏 🙏 🇮🇪
@OdohertyI64991@EoinLenihan@JakeWSimons I think there's a place in the world for tortured artists getting an official leg up. Without the Medicis etc etc. But no old beardy fucker should be getting a taxpayer leg up til they smell of wee wee. Mad
@OdohertyI64991@EoinLenihan@JakeWSimons Look we'll never rid the world of deep, tortured, intellectual creative types. Any why would we ?? Some of them are half-interesting. But why are they always up their own holes ?!
@TheTributeAct No they don't but invariably they are the loudest. If 60,000 people rock up to Celtic Park the law of averages states that there are a reasonable amount of centre/centre-right patrons there. They keep quiet .........
