Thrilled to have my work published in @NatureComms!

[Nature Communications @NatureComms]

We were all excited to spend time last week learning about a favorite process— beer making. Thanks @creaturebeer!

[UGA | Chemical, Materials & Biomedical Engineering @UGA_CMB_Engr]

#CommitTo beer!

Students from the #UGA chapter of @ChEnected had a tour of the @creaturebeer brewery in Athens.

Winding down from @ChESS_2022– one incredible week of learning about chemical engineering education and meeting likeminded faculty. Thank you to the organizers and my faculty mentor @BaylesTaryn, who continues to take great care of @JK_Beckwith and me!

[Alison Banka @albanka3]

As per usual, @stchavez continues to inspire/kill it in science (it’s an honor to have graduated with him!)

[Steven Chavez @stchavez]

Finally feels official! First gen college student --> Chemical engineering PhD. I want to use this space to highlight how intentional/concerted efforts in DEI recruitment helped me accomplish this goal. I will discuss in the context of academia, but this is generalizable. A 🧵

[Alison Banka @albanka3]

Thank you for your mentorship, @YogenKanthi, and for being part of my committee!

[Alison Banka @albanka3]

T-minus 8 days until my thesis defense (!) and 207 days until I officially begin my new position as a lecturer at @UGA_CMB_Engr (!!)

Thank you to everyone who has been a part of my PhD experience-- it takes a village to raise a thesis (I'm pretty sure that's the phrase)

[Alison Banka @albanka3]

@Lola_UMich Thanks, Lola!

[Alison Banka @albanka3]

@BaylesTaryn @aicheeddiv @ddburkey @UConnEngineer @JK_Beckwith @ChEnected I'm excited to continue learning from the best @BaylesTaryn! Thank you!

[Alison Banka @albanka3]

In no surprise to anyone in the lab, our awesome post-doc continues to be awesome! Congrats to @teamkorie!

[Korie Grayson, PhD (she/her) @teamkorie]

Guess who won the Outstanding Postdoctoral Fellow Award?

This year, I was one of three postdoctoral fellows that received this award and I’m truly honored that my peers here at @UMPDA1 think that highly of me.

I definitely feel appreciated this week 🤗

Who knew that I was being advised by 3% of all the tenured black female faculty at the University of Michigan?

@cjbarr_phd I’m not sure how you can focus on anything with those two slightly psychedelic eyes staring at you
