@RebeccaPaplanus@saragrummert I agree with this. If professors were more understanding of athlete's situations amd treated them fairly, they would be more likely to succeed academically
@DianaTo41965596 @saragrummert This is very true. More emphasis is put on them excelling at their sport than their academics. This puts them at a disadvantage in the future.
@DianaTo41965596 @saragrummert I think athletes have a lot of influence, because a lot of people look up to them and respect them. If others see athletes standing up for what they believe in then they're more likely to follow suit.
@khuer002@saragrummert I agree! I think that student athletes know how everyone views them and i think sometimes it causes them to just give in. They act like they don't care because that's what everyone expects.
@madzj_@saragrummert Media does impact how student athletes are viewed. TV shows them in a negative light. I don't think its completely to blame, but it has affected how people view athletes.
@ChaffeeSadie@saragrummert It's definitely not necessary and even wrong. Athletes shouldn't be forced to go through that that type of training. If it's an option for them then sure, but they really shouldn't pudh themselves too hard.
@Gisellec_99 @saragrummert I agree that professors should receive more pay and college coaches should receive less. More so because professors have to do a lot for the universities besides teaching lectures. As you said they do research and write papers and such.
@JamesTsai_1 @bayan_atam@saragrummert I don't think so. From everything we've learned in lecture and the readings, coaches are way overpaid even though the colleges don't benefit that much.
@angu_adriana@saragrummert Because of social media and commercialization the athletes aren't getting the benefits they need. They're being spread too thin and a lot end up with no professional athletic job or degree
@amberchaconn If students ran/orginized athletics like before profits would probably decrease because not as much money would be put into it. If the profits are less the games won't be as great and less people will attend.
