@reinhardNFL @__chancey__ What makes it hard to measure is that people don’t consistently respond to good or bad events the same. So what may create “momentum” in one instance has no impact in another. Not sure if that makes it real, but it does make it near impossible to identify systematically

@airesearchtools I should be clear, nice templates are great and I am ok with people charging for them. I also expect the ai side to improve in the future and do use generative ai in other use cases, the slide generation use case just doesn’t seem ready/useful to me yet, especially for the price

@airesearchtools What are your/people’s thoughts on these? I’ve generally underwhelmed, finding them to be nice templates but nothing more. The ai generated text isn’t compelling. Not sure a monthly price is worth a template. Would rather buy one that works with ppt or google slides and use that.

@lakens @scite I absolutely love it! My general approach is to always ask it for more (say a paragraph when I need a sentence, 3 paragraphs when I need one) and then rewrite/integrate its output with my own writing. You still have to check the citations but it’s definitely helped my writing.

@patrickmineault I had to learn it to interact with qualysis (3D motion capture system). But that was for data collection. Haven’t needed it for data analysis

@JocelynnPearl Point 2 is my biggest question/issue right now with desci from the outside looking in. It seems focused on a cash grab for funding science, not on improving how science gets done. Not saying that’s true, but certainly the impression I get.

I’ve definitely found this to be the case. An important corollary of this is to not be afraid to reach out to people you find interesting. Especially smaller creators. Works both ways

The most effective networking strategy I’ve found has nothing to do with conferences, cocktail hours, cold emails, or any of the common ideas you hear.

1) Do interesting things.
2) Share them publicly.

Like-minded people will come to you.

@natesjacobs I wonder if/how people categorize typos? Figure that the layout of a keyboard would lend itself to certain typos based on what keys are near each other vs errors that are not neighboring keys and may be pronunciation errors?

@airesearchtools I like and use scite assistant. One note: you have to still check it’s citations. it can conflate what the paper says with the user question. e.g. asked about deficits following a concussion and it cited a paper on Down Syndrome as if it was a paper on concussion. Happens often.

@jamesmfinley You may have to change your view. I keep catching mine defaulting to “for you” (twitters idea of what I want) rather than “following” (my idea of what I want).
