@JackVaughn_14@MyraA_Biochar@NU_ChemE@ScottS_Biochar@RachelD_Biochar Hi Jack,
ty for the question! We planned for an experiment to test for adsorption capacity, perform a mass balance, and to provide a physical sample to present. Unfortunately, we got the material & wrote a procedure, but couldn't get to the lab in time :(
@lydia43452672 @MyraA_Biochar@NU_ChemE@ScottS_Biochar@RachelD_Biochar Hi Lydia!
We would consider the volume output successful. There currently is not a very big consumer market for biochar, so we plan to drive the market with a plant of this scale. The optimal operation volume would be good for us to look into, we haven't yet though!
@ConorPOMalley @MyraA_Biochar@NU_ChemE@ScottS_Biochar@RachelD_Biochar The biggest challenge was definitely modelling the reactor! To resolve that, we modeled it on paper (with the calculations), then basically put in a dummy block with calculated inputs and outputs. The issue dealt with "non-conventional solids"
Hi everyone! CHARming Industries (team 17) here, with a poster describing our biochar production plant. Our plant helps farmers and ginners turn cotton trash into a soil amendment to recycle carbon and reuse waste! @NU_ChemE#CHME4703Poster
