@francishamesha@nexxeln it’s more customizable (try changing the layout), less bloated, and it’s got split tabs. new features get added pretty frequently though so make sure to stay uptodate
@reinprime@Nogardtist@plasma_node so does traditional video without any form of gaussian splatter? do you think regular animated 3d movies have no carbon footprint at all?
@reinprime@Nogardtist@plasma_node of course it doesn’t. what i’m saying is that it has already been rendered (or “trained”) in a machine somewhere and doesn’t use additional energy to play it back.
@reinprime@Nogardtist@plasma_node idk if this is actually the case, but most likely this is no different than pre-rendering a video and playing it back, just that this is a realtime 3d environment that you can orbit around.
so i don't see how it would have a footprint bigger than a pixar movie for example
@Nogardtist@plasma_node@reinprime you have no idea what ai even is. i know it has a lot of problems, both environmentally and ethically, but you and the “anti-ai” crowd in general are just misinformed. there’s no point in “boycotting” something like an algorithm like this one because it’s an “ai”.
@Nogardtist@plasma_node@reinprime your phone keyboard does as well. the hitboxes for the buttons change dynamically based on a machine learning algorithm that predicts what the next letter is most likely to be.
should we boycott phone keyboards and go back to blackberries?
@brunossn@ScottArbeit@zacbowden that’s true but sadly it’s what’s available. in the post above microsoft promised to use native winui3 for their apps and system components instead of webview2 from now on.
