They’re not writing less code – they’re enabling more complex, system-level work through orchestration. And that’s as true for educators as it is for developers themselves.

This shift isn’t hypothetical. It’s happening now. Developers move through clear adoption phases – from dabbling skeptics to strategic AI collaborators – and those who reach the final stage say their identity as developers has transformed. Their focus is no longer on producing code, but on designing systems, directing agents, and validating outputs. “My next title might be Creative Director of Code,” one developer told us. That’s not hyperbole – it’s real. Here’s what we’re seeing:

• AI is on track to write 90% of code within the next 2–5 years.

• Developers aren’t worried. They’re optimistic and realistic about the changes ahead.

• New skills matter now, e.g. agent orchestration, iterative collaboration, and critical verification.

• Time savings? Sure. But the real shift is ambition. Developers are raising the ceiling, not just lowering the cost.

This also has massive implications for education. Teaching syntax alone is obsolete. Students must now learn to guide AI, critique its work, and think across disciplines. Assessments should measure collaboration with AI, not isolation from it.

In September 1999, I got to head up the expansion pack for Age of Empires 2. I chose The Conquerors as my theme, and since I wanted 4 civs (like we had on Rise of Rome) I chose the Spanish, the Aztecs, the Huns, and the Mayans. I know the Mayans weren't as famous in conquest as Aztecs, but they WERE imperialistic, and since we'd have to make a new building set for Aztecs anyway, this let us re-use it.

The goal was to finish up by the end of March 2000 for a fall release. It went EXTREMELY well. In early January 2000, we were actually on track to complete the whole thing by the end of the month - weeks ahead of schedule. I realize this is almost unheard of for a software project but I credit two things - first, we had planned for the same dev time as Rise of Rome, but had a bigger team. Second, the civs worked out super, and were both fun and quite well-balanced even from the start. I will be happy to take mucho credit for the balance part.

The team was excited. We would finish early, and then we could move onto either Age of Mythology or Age of Empires 3 respectively (the new game projects).

México NO es twitter, NO es facebook, NO es tus grupos de amigos en WhatsApp, NO es tu privada, NO es tu circulo social, ni tu circulo de amigos en instagram.
Hay México real, marginado y olvidado por décadas y décadas, que es pobre NO por ser ignorante, que NO es huevon solo porque recibe un apoyo social que antes nunca le dieron.
Hay millones y millones de mexicanos que se parten el lomo de sol a sol y ni asi les alcanza para salir adelante
A ellos, que son mayoría en un México muy desigual esta "oposición" no se canso de insultarlos y humillarlos durante TODO el sexenio; "ignorantes, mantenidos, huevones, chairos mugrosos" y al final les rogaron su voto para "salvarlos" del "dictador" con el que se sienten identificados.
Fue una paliza mayúscula, ¡35 millones de votos!
La oposición debe reconstruirse, ser inteligente. Utilizaron las tácticas del miedo como si el pueblo siguiera siendo estúpido; " te quitaran tu casa, es atea, se robaran tu afore, seremos Venezuela, son comunistas"
¿Seguirán otros 6 años con el mismo discurso?
Perder otra vez por esa enorme diferencia debe servirles de lección. No es así como se acercaran a los votantes.
A México le urge una oposición pensante, inteligente, empatica.
La división de poderes es necesaria, urgente, tener contrapesos en el congreso es necesario. Deben contestarse con sinceridad a si mismos;
¿Quién le dio la peligrosa mayoría calificada del congreso a Morena; los "ignorantes" votantes o su inmensa soberbia?
