This week I'll be at the Conference on Computational Methods in Water Resources @CMWR_2024 hosted @uarizona. Monday 4-6pm come say hi at my poster presenting ongoing work with @JoGiezi, @pazjusticiavida, @FritzPolicelli global inundation mapping with NASA VIIRS and deep learning
1⃣ day until our Global #Flood 🌊 Annual Meeting!
We are looking forward to hearing how other organisations are using our #GloFAS and #GFM tool
➡️Hear about 🔟 different applications of these products during the event

If you’re at IEEE #IGARSS2023 today, come find me in Room F from 3.45pm for “Advanced Flood Monitoring and Prediction for Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilient Infrastructure”.
I'll show comparisons of "global vs local" and "ML vs non-ML" remote sensing approaches, with takeaways for the accuracy of automated emergency mapping products and the benefits of multi-sensor fusion @JoGiezi @pazjusticiavida@AKMSaifulIslam7 (2/2)
Excited to be in Pasadena next week for IEEE #IGARSS2023. Come join Monday's "Advanced Flood Monitoring and Predictions for DRR and Resilience Infrastructure (II)" at 15:45 in Room F to hear me talk about satellite maps of last year's floods in Sylhet, Bangladesh @igarss (1/2)
Attending At What Point this week @columbiaclimate? Come check out a session I'm co-convening featuring an amazing lineup of early-ish researchers and a CA state employee working on limits and reforms around the hop topic of INSURANCE. With @alexsaunderstwt + Emmalina Glinskis.
Next Wednesday 21 June, @hk_friedrich, Emmalina Glinskis and I will host a session at the Managed Retreat Conference, with our fantastic panel of early career experts. If you're at the conference, we'd love for you to join us. For more details see https://t.co/q8FVMBd79U
My first PhD fieldwork! Lots of flood risk related ideas after visits to Sylhet, Sunamganj, Sirajganj and Dhaka. Hopefully the first of many trips to Bangladesh. Thanks to everyone who met with / accompanied us / joined our workshops!
awesome to be doing fieldwork again for the first time in 4 years! In Bangladesh w/ @ariful_islam_94 @JoGiezi @alexsaunderstwt meeting the people who hand collect the river level data we use! And getting to know landscapes we usually see from
Space and the people who live in them
If you work with or are interested in flood insurance, resilience and / or remote sensing in Bangladesh, come join our two workshops happening in Dhaka!

New five-year drought and excess rainfall cover for Djibouti with World Bank funding the $2m premium. 2008 drought was thought to have caused up to 70% livestock losses so this cover could offer critical help for pastoralists if distribution and index design are good.
The Government of Djibouti has signed the first-ever multi-year, multi-peril agreement on the African continent with the @ARCapacity to protect the lives and livelihoods of its most climate-vulnerable communities. Read the full announcement: https://t.co/EgomjV19pR
April 20 spend the day talking about flood justice with us in person in Tucson or virtually- with scientists, lawyers, community organizers, government officials and more- register here https://t.co/PTUZbOITQt funded by @uazenvironment
Near real-time flood maps are incredibly important for insurance and disaster management - great to some innovation here.
Congrats on the fundraise and rebrand from Cloud to Street, @BessieSchwarz, @abitmore and team!
Line up from Social[Pixel] lab at #agu22 wed-fri more on flooding- including deep learning, urban events, impact of flood adapted rice on yields, Bangladesh specific talks, and more from @JoGiezi @RohitMukherjee9@alexsaunderstwt@hk_friedrich I join the fray tmrw at 11am in H33E
