The first is better.
For hypertrophy you want to fatigue the muscle at a substantial intensity, the sets are just a way to get there. The second option creates two downsides: you would have to warm up each time to perform at that intensity and you would not reach the same level of muscular fatigue in each session. Perhaps it evens out, but there seems little upside to it.
The only goal for which the second is worth considering is optimising the specific movement pattern.
@azi_pat@GaryMarcus@elonmusk@demishassabis And by that rhetoric each of the labs race for AGI. The flaw in the reasoning is that it assumes the risk is about who wins the race rather than the race, unregulated push for AGI, itself being the risk.
@Joeingram1@GTOWizard Since ev differences aren’t massive between these lines, I think a substantial part of it is explained by asking yourself which part of his 3bet range your hand is unblocking and consider the optimal pot size vs that
@ChrisVolkernick@0xMortyx@grok I always feel like in this instance the podcasters would do better by just letting their guest speak - let Karpathy speak, don't try to compete, just ask good questions
Twitter’s problem isn’t opaque algorithm.
It’s lack of vision, direction, and legitimacy.
Old Twitter had flaws, but it had a recognizable role: the live public layer of the internet. News, institutions, jokes, arguments, crises, status, and culture all moved through the same arena.
X no longer feels like a steward of that arena. It feels like a privately directed experiment: part media company, part AI data layer, part creator platform, part political arena, part owner megaphone
Open sourcing the algo doesn’t solve that.
@BenjaminDEKR No. Because each of these tasks require operational procedures that carry predictability and accountability, which an LLM by its very structure can not have
“Reverse lottery” is a bad analogy.
Lottery = adding useless upside volatility.
Insurance = removing ruin risk.
Pros don’t treat them symmetrically:
they avoid negative sum gambles like lottery
they hedge tail risk (insurance)
Upside is optional.
Ruin is terminal.
Different game.
It’s always good to look at the actual ev of each play rather than frequency. Cold calling in many spots maybe low or 0 frequency but at almost no ev loss. They can be very interesting and valuable lines.
Postflop otf the line and equities irrelevant quite different (bet > polar raise > you) vs preflop (open range > 3bet merged range > you) so the situation can’t immediately be compared - though it would be interesting to try understand why that is
