Redumped the G&W Zelda melody ROM. This game uses a SM512 which is the same as the SM511 but supports more LCD segments. First time using the new dump method on this chip type π
Re-dumping the melody ROM for G&W Climber. The difference between the previous dump which is in MAME ant the new one is small: the length of a single note, a melody ending one empty note earlier and the length of a number of unused empty notes is all that differs.
Second game through the new SM511 melody ROM dumper: Game & Watch Boxing. Melody ROM is byte-for-byte identical to the optical readout of the same chip. Stops and durations come from the melody-end flag via TMEL, notes from timing the R pin with the CPU held in reset.
Dumping the melody ROM from G&W Super Mario Bros. using a method I have been working on. Earlier dumps could not recover tone lengths and stop bits, so completeness was not guaranteed. This one reads those out and the result matches the optical readout with 100% accuracy.

I've added a bunch more pictures to the 'MAME 2025' page https://t.co/oKSBXkvq9C This only really scratches the surface of things that have been done, as many of the more obscure things are difficult to cover. Not everything shown is playable as it's meant to represent progress.
Dumping the ROM data from a Tronica Space Mission handheld game. The MCU is a Sharp SM5A. Other Tronica units I've examined has been built around either the similar Sharp SM510 or an epoxy coated MCU which I can't do anything with.
