@AndyLuttrell5 not exactly sure if this what you’re looking for, but Hepler & Albarracin’s 2013 JPSP paper on dispositional attitudes may be relevant
@hakeemjefferson@UMich@hakeemjefferson I am so beyond humbled. what an incredible delight it has been to think with you about the issues that we both care deeply about. you are always welcome in the lab and I am so excited that we are able to continue collaborating.
While some deliberately ignored the warnings since Day One, others who stuck to social distancing may have relaxed their caution after the #COVID19 curve was flattened in the spring, said @aliearl from @um_psychology and @umisr in @ABC.

Thanks to @AndyLuttrell5 for inviting me on the Opinion Science podcast, to talk about why we avoid health information, even when we could benefit from paying attention, as well as practical strategies to help us stay engaged (and why Andy misuses calorie tracking apps). So fun!
Episode 18! @UMich professor @aliearl shares the challenges of getting health information to people who need it most. Her research looks at people's defensive biases when they're given information about their health and how to improve it.

I am delighted to share that Dr. Veronica Derricks has successfully defended her dissertation! She investigates identity-based relevance in the context of persuasion and health disparities, and thoughtfully engages both theory and practice. Congratulations Dr. @vderrick1025!!!
@davenuss79 using two-sided persuasive appeals (presenting both good and bad, for instance) increases perceptions of source credibility. there’s some old work on this is social psychology, but most of the recent work I’ve seen is in marketing.
Come to the 20th Attitudes & Social Influence Preconference at @SPSPnews 2020! It's a great lineup: Wendy Wood, @JeremyCone2, Emily Falk (@falklab), Erin Hennes, Sharon Shavitt, Leandre Fabrigar...and maybe you! Data blitz/poster submissions open now. https://t.co/DxmFfyJdvB
The University of Michigan is currently accepting applications for LSA Collegiate Fellows. This is an incredible post doc-to-faculty opportunity for scholars interested in advancing diversity science.
Awesome opportunity for anyone finishing up their PhD. Basically it's an independent post-doc that can mature into a tenure-track faculty line here at UM. Apply now!
academic Twitter: what is your favorite example of bad/strange/controversial construct operationalizations (particularly of social psych concepts)? Ideally something that appeals to an intro social psych lecture on methods.
@jayvanbavel how about people who vote against their self (or group) interest in favor of value/identity expression (e.g., Trump supporters and ACA, or work by @hakeemjefferson on respectability politics and support for punitive programs among African Americans)?
I had the great fortune of sitting in on the PIG-E meetings with @BrentWRoberts and @rcfraley. It was one of the most engaging, intellectually stimulating experiences I had in grad school. If anyone is looking for a post-doc in personality psych, check this one out.
