In any case, you'd have to show that the Type III isoenzyme is being down-regulated. It's most prominent in the brain, if it isn't a Fin substrate, why would it down-regulate? Such gene expression changes are very tissue specific.

It has no affinity, it doesn't inhibit it.
It has 100x lower type 3 affinity than type 2, it's compared to itself.
It can't nukes 60% scalp DHT only.
Much, much less in the brain.

Finasteride also binds to 5-AR type II only, it has 100x lower affinity for Type I and Type III, type III being the predominant isoform expressed in the human brain.
There is no evidence that Finasteride interferes with the 5-AR dependent cascade in the human brain.
