Teaching children about hate speech at a young age may seem tricky, but children understand these things and they are smarter than people think. #lesson13
Rewatching Disney movies after educating yourself on the history and reality of our society when it comes to the privileged make you realize that, as a child, you were brain washed by these movies to believe in the stereotypes and in the way one must act. It’s sad. #lesson11
@kayla_greenough View it before, and if they let their child watch a movie with stereotyping and sexism, to address it wil’ their children and talk through it with them. Children are smart and will understand.
The impact that Disney movies has aon children is subtle. You may not think it has affected you or that it affects certain children. Children pick up on everything. A good way to address the various themes in these movies to children is to talk to them about it. #lesson11
I cannot imagine other countries like Lebanon where rape laws are not enforced as much or have conditions where rape is not not justified any more, like proposing or marrying the victim. #Lesson10
(All this information comes from my Sociology class note from CEGEP)
Every country has different laws for rape. In Canada, the rape law changed in 1984. Before then, the law stated that rape was an act of sexual penetration committed by a male to a female. This did not consider that men could be rapes, that a partner or spouse could rape, or
that anything other than the act of sex can be considered as rape or sexual assault. Even if it now considers all these things, many women and men do not speak of it because they are either ashamed, they know the rapist, or they feel responsible. We are one of the safe countries.
@cindlaliberte But, what if the teacher does not explain why they are keeping such close tabs. Some students may feel uncomfortable and controlled if they do not know why their teacher is always monitoring them when they are using technology.
