I guess the main difference is that the loan can affect your credit score and a VC investment does not?

@MikeCherneski I guess I'd argue that value creation is also the creation of surplus. The question is really just who has rights over that surplus created.

I'd think most classical economists would say that usury is justified because of the risk taken on by the lender in a capitalist economy
