“The beauty of this place cannot hide the brutal reality of life here.”
📽️@WFP_Afghanistan Country Director @Hsiao_Wei_Lee talks about the importance & challenges of reaching vulnerable communities in the most remote areas of #Afghanistan with food assistance.
Great to spend time with our remarkable @WFP teams in Jerusalem, #WestBank & #Gaza, who move mountains every day to get food and life-saving assistance to Palestinians in need. Many work in near impossible conditions, risking their lives. Deep respect and gratitude.
After several trials, @WFP & @UNOPS delivered fuel to a bakery in #GazaCity today to start producing #bread. Bakeries have been idle for months due to conflict & lack of access.
They need consistent flour & diesel deliveries & we need safe & sustained access to prevent famine
The people of #𝐆𝐚𝐳𝐚 are living through an epic humanitarian catastrophe, with starvation, famine, and disease-bearing down on them.
On @ABCNewsLive, WFP's @mfjhollingworth explains what he saw inside the Strip and what's needed to meet the immense needs.
The risk of famine in #Gaza increases with each passing day.

Today, @WFP and @UNICEF had a joint mission to deliver vital food assistance to Al-Ahli hospital & surrounding areas.
It's a promising step, but the team recounted painful stories from the people who haven't received any aid in weeks.
They saw hunger, desperation, & destruction.
All girls & women must be permitted to exercise their full human rights in a safe environment without fear of violence or persecution.

"They return to #Afghanistan at the worst of times."
At the Afghanistan-Pakistan border, our country director Hsiao-Wei talks about the consequences of the forced return of more than one million Afghans to the country:
Thousands of Afghans forced to leave Pakistan cross into #Afghanistan daily.
@WFP has distributed food to 60k people at the border and is preparing to support up to 1M returnees.
But funding simply isn't keeping up as Afghans reel from brutal earthquakes and brace for winter.
To ease suffering, make the delivery of aid easier & safer, and facilitate the release of hostages, I reiterate my appeal for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire.
I salute my @UN colleagues & humanitarian partners in Gaza risking their lives to provide aid to those in need.
WFP trucks carrying 60 metric tons of WFP emergency food and supplies are on their way into #Gaza. @SamerWFP
WFP has 930 metric tons of emergency items near the Rafah border, ready to be brought into #Gaza whenever access is allowed again.
A @WFP-chartered flight and two other flights offered by @IHC_UAE with lifesaving humanitarian assistance, landed at Al-Arish Airport, Egypt, near the Rafah border crossing.
Food will be delivered to people in #Gaza as soon as safe and unimpeded humanitarian access is secured.
Another @WFP-contracted bakery was hit overnight in #Gaza.
Its bread was distributed by WFP staff to displaced families in shelters.
Of the 23 bakeries we work with, only 4 are operational today as most have run out of fuel.
People need safe access to food.
🚨Breaking: #Afghanistan was hit by two more earthquakes this morning.
This brings it to a total of 7 earthquakes with multiple aftershocks in a week. Since then, dozens of villages have been affected — some of them entirely flattened. #HeratEarthquake
