@VitalikButerin Lots of open source advocates, as you put it, were heavily involved in early stages of development until what they worked on was considered valuable, and thus their perspectives change with their quality of life.

At least that's my take/understanding of the shift.

@VitalikButerin It's money/gain. Clear as day. You financialize things and eventually serpents slither their way in. When people start making a quick buck, their quality of life improves, and it's harder to look to helping than preserving.

Bitcoin is a perfect example, really.
