@tm1fox I worked at 5 different London asylum hotels a few years ago for about a year, the only org was care4calais, I met maybe one member of staff for that org, they’d come every other week at best for a hotel with several hundred people each, you’re over estimating scale dramatically
Sorry but Octavian was in the right, imagine your uncle is the emperor, gives it to you in his will, and then his fucking deadbeat friends and some random lady they met in Egypt try and take it from u??? No way
@S2Cigst@iwrite4jacobin Agree also with propaganda being a driving force behind much early writing, similarly early propaganda writing about ottomans during ww1 still there was real genocide. I’d argue we can do the same with Belgium and separate myth/anecdote from systematic/organised atrocity
@S2Cigst@iwrite4jacobin Ok I get your argument and it’s reasonable, I would just argue there was more of a systematic nature to this as some Schrecklichkeit tactics (including hostage/human shields) were shown in pre war manuals, see pages 117-120 below. https://t.co/nrVqoA2Csd
@S2Cigst@iwrite4jacobin Putting aside the human shields question, when a regiment takes all adult men of a village and executes them, how do you think it plays out for the women? Yes the ottomans also punished a select few perpetrators too in ww1 but dynamic was similar in these kinds of events
@S2Cigst@iwrite4jacobin Move the goalposts just a bit more pls, all my actual claims were in fact documented, I’d send u some but they’re in German so no chance you’d be able to read it
@XenXeonen@KaptanBaha747@jaanislam They just liquidated one of the best universities in Turkey for no reason the other day, I don’t know anyone who’s been tortured by police in uk universities but I know several at universities here, you live in absolute fantasy land
@jaanislam Crackdowns on campus protests lmao, you teach at Boğaziçi, there is zero comparison between Turkish unis where riot police brutalise students and torture is used, and uk universities whatever their problems are
before you waste a lot of time in therapy trying to understand men, consider that Napoleon got volunteers to man a battery position with an almost 100% casualty rate by simply renaming it "the battery of not being a little bitch"
