I can’t guarantee much
But I’ll safely bet a young athlete will have success if they consistently:
1. Strength train heavily
2. Sprint w/ max-effort
3. Perform jumps/plyos
4. Throw light/heavy med balls
5. Emphasis posterior chain training
6. Hammer stability w/ eccentrics
I've worked with hundreds of youth athletes over the past 15 years.
What do they need most?
Consistency. Competition. The freedom to move, explore, and make mistakes.
What they don't need is more over coaching.
Every school with an enrollment over 1500 has a 10.70 or better sprinter walking the halls.
Unfortunately, his grades are bad, or he prefers to play AAU basketball/ 7v7 in the spring, or he prefers not to run track because he's too busy chasing someone's daughter.
All of which are losing battles for any HS coach trying to recruit them.
This tweet will anger so many people.
No, multisport participation will not land you on an NFL roster.
But, it’s a fact that NFL players competed in multiple sports, especially track.
It’s wrong to advise specialization to HS 🏈 players.
An athlete’s ability to accelerate effectively and IMMEDIATELY is often the difference between success and failure in critical moments of sport.
1.) Projection
2.) Switching
3.) 50-75% VDec
Train it. Train it often.⚡️
The #1 job of a coach is to build a culture.
What is culture?
1. Culture is what you allow.
2. Culture is what you emphasize.
3. Culture is every day.
Your culture never arrives. Build it and clean it each and every day.
Culture Wins!
Hey athletes… are you observing how the best train?
They sprint with max intent
They lift heavy and explosively
They perform jumps, skips & bounds
They train power diversely in multiple planes
Tyreek hill, Saquon, Jayson Tatum, Anthony Edwards, Bobby Witt Jr.
We have had 20mph and 17mph as our standards for a few years now. 20mph for male athletes and 17 for female athletes.
Now using 16mph to 23mph. Time for a new 20mph sign!
1 time = sign the mph
3 times = mph wristband
