#UMich's grand statements about racial justice & equity are meaningless while consistently choosing to underfund marginalized students on the Flint & Dearborn campuses. Show us your "values" in your budget.
Though @UMich boasts dedication to DEI & combatting systemic racism, Flint & DB students are STILL fighting for the budget to reflect this.
The university cannot claim commitment to DEI & dismantling systemic racism if it continuously shortchanges those with the greatest need.
1U’s Daille Held was recently named a 2022 Dearborn Difference Maker! Daille has been a monumental part of the fight for equity on the Dearborn and Flint Campuses and was recognize for this in the award! @helddaille https://t.co/2h4AEqylBJ #OneUniversity#ChampionOfDearborn
We’re heading into the budget meeting, in the midst of @umpncStrong nurses & @LEOUnionUmich librarians, archivist, & curators bargaining for a #FairContractNow and continued attacks on Dbn and Flint liberal arts! Let’s see if the #UmichRegents put the money where their mouth is!!
The #UMich Presidential Search Committee is hosting listening sessions for input about the qualities needed in a new President. We encourage you to attend & tell them that the new President must prioritize equitable funding to Flint & DB & stopping cuts on those campuses! Link⬇️
I wholeheartedly support this statement from @OneUniversityUM. Schlissel was allowed to ignore the needs of the U-M community for so long because the Regents didn’t demand otherwise. It’s imperative that the next President is eager to support every single U-M student.
#UPDATE: Because the regents fired President Mark Schlissel for cause, he will no longer receive the golden parachute he and the regents negotiated following his initial plan to resign in 2023.
Reiterating this multiple times. Mark Schlissel is trending and he didn’t do this on his own. Enablers are almost as responsible as the person doing wrong and he had plenty at U-M.
Inequity between the campuses and austerity measures at Flint & Dearborn cannot continue!
Please sign this petition to press #UMich admin to reverse the cuts and fund Flint & DB! https://t.co/sFsinhfp2G
Lots of people are upset about Mark Schlissel making $927k until 2025 while lecturers are still making around $40k.
Have you considered that maybe Dr. Schlissel simply works 20x harder? If you cared about your job as much as Schlissel hates the UM community, you'd be making $$$!
