We’ve never seen anything like this before. A man was conscripted into jury duty by the government. He performed his civic duty and followed his conscience, refusing to acquit a woman who confessed to systematically executing her three children. The defense attorney immediately launched a public smear campaign against the juror. Soon several other jurors joined the campaign. Then the media. Even the defense attorney’s wife has joined. Now they’re doxxing the man, digging into his past, contacting his family, showing up at his house. All of this both to punish him for refusing to go with their program, and to pollute any future jury pool by making it clear that anyone who votes to convict Clancy will have their life destroyed. It’s truly one of the most outrageously evil things we’ve ever seen from the Left, and that’s saying something. A direct assault on the integrity of our justice system. They are burning down every boundary and standard in their path. And doing it all for the sake of a child murdering psychopath. Unfathomable.

I get this on an individual level but for society to progress, it needs all of us operating at our respective peak abilities. A first class physics graduates peak abilities from society's perspective is unlikely to be tailoring. If he fills a tailoring gap, who fills his gap in physics? Not many can.

When we speak of low productivity in Nigeria, this is one of the problems. Our human capital is poorly optimized, talent terribly allocated. The optimum path here is a physics PhD and a rewarding career in industry and or academia. If he was to end up in tailoring with his cognitive abilities it should be via invention that increases tailoring output for the same input, growing productivity in the process. More economic value created.

Dead weight jobs in tailoring is not what a first class physics grad should be doing.

In other words, the 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝘀𝗼𝗳𝘁𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗹𝘂𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘁. This can result in software architecture that is not optimal for the problem being solved, as the team may focus on their own organizational needs over the needs of the system.

This means an organization with small distributed teams will produce a modular service architecture, while an organization with large collocated teams will produce a monolithic architecture.

In some broad sense, we could even say that 𝗛𝗥 𝘂𝘀𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝗼𝗳𝘁𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀. To mitigate this, we can use the 𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗲𝘂𝘃𝗲𝗿. This technique means we should involve software architects, engineers, and leaders in defining organizational structures. Doing it can lead to better software.

Yet, we can see that many organizations ignore Conway's law and think that organizational structures and software architecture are detached from each other, with surprises in the end.
