Latha Mangeshkar sung predominantly in Hindi. She’s called ‘Nightingale of India’; and was awarded Bharat Ratna, in 2001.
S.Janaki sung loads of songs in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam; but she’s only ‘Nightingale of South India’; was awarded PadmaBhushan, in 2013, which she politely declined.
The pernicious notion that ‘Hindi is India,’ is hurting all of us a great deal. High time we woke up #SJanaki
🚨 One Way for Common Man, Free Way for VIPs & Govt?
Australian Malayali citizen gets manhandled & shirt torn by TN Traffic Police for one-way violation... while Govt buses & two-wheelers zoom through the SAME road freely!
Under # CMVijay #TVK rule, is there a secret order — "Rules only for outsiders & common people.
Police & Govt vehicles exempt"?
This is the "change" we got? Petty chillar harassment for foreigners & citizens, but selective blindness for their own?
Where is the "good governance" they promised?
Hypocrisy at its peak!
Tag the authorities.
Share if you've faced this nonsense.

After telling Indians not to travel overseas - he has himself travelled to 11 countries in the last 57 days.✈️✈️
Being screamed at by an NDTV-reporter and an India Today host in May feels worth it today😂
Thank you to the reporters in NZ & Australia.
And always, thank you to the Indian press: The Wire, NewsLaundry, Scroll, Peek TV, The Unedited Media, HQ English and many more working every day to report truthfully. The heavylifters.
It is nice to see that other countries are continuing the discussion about declining press freedom in India.
That was a part of my goal when I decided to do over 30 interviews with press from all around the world after the «Norway incident».
Reporters working from countries such as NZ and Norway have an extra responsibility when state leaders visit. Even small countries can contribute and make a difference.
I am glad some Indians found it valuable. That’s what made it important.
