@Emily_Oh_157 Hi Emily! Even though technology brings us much convenience, I do think it distances people, especially children, from connecting with nature. As I said, children spend much more time in front of the electronic media than outdoors.
@earthkrystal@Envir495F@seal_ya_later I agree! I think we need more help with clearing up misconceptions. The "big numbers" and "striking news" presented by the media created much panic but did not really help the public understand the virus.
My perception of risk would also decrease because school closure can help reduce #coronavirus transmission. In fact, school closure, quarantine, social distancing really helped control the spread of #coronavirus in province outside Hubei. #ENVIR495f
It was really cool to hear that people now are learning from the indigenous community about how to manage our land and resources. They have many great insights to offer. #ENVIR495f#scicomm2020
"Highest rates of biodiversity found on earth are managed by indigenous peoples." @MeadeKrosby rethinking how we view conservation. #ENVIR49f#scicomm2020#biodiversity
#GreenSchoolyard is a really cool program that increases children and families's access to the natural world. I will talk about it more in my #lighteningtalk next week. Stay tuned! #ENVIR495f
@AbigailSerna12 @MelindaSkipwor1 That is such a good idea! Their stories are unheard and their work is under-appreciated. A platform to showcase these women's stories will also help the public to learn about #fastfashion and its impacts.
For so long time in nature has been viewed as 'nice to have' but not a dominant social need or national priority. #RethinkOutside campaign encourages people to 'rethink' and change this narrative. #ENVIR495f
