Great work by @PhilipErm showing how protected areas can increase biodiversity even when accounting for the extra fishing they cause outside reserves. The presence of, and caring about, sensitive species drives the result. Caveats/assumptions 👉 https://t.co/PnRg06QMV4
“I am buoyed by the upswell of activity for yes across the nation. We are almost at 20,000 volunteers and the numbers are rising rapidly, by the day.”

If you are told you are bully, especially as a Prof, I really urge that you take the approach of "what can I learn"...and move on! We are here to do science. Taking feedback responsibility is a part of being a good team player.
So you have been accused of being a bully...? Now what? As a professor, I have witnessed 5 cases recently where a mentor or colleague was accused of harassing and bullying someone else. In 3 cases, accused individuals reflected and responded, what do I need to change?
Point 4. While there may be cases where arguing against accusations of bullying may be grounded, in every case I have seen, supporting lab or project mates silently agree, but are conflict adverse.

@mcleamj I am putting a series of tips together for negotiating, CLEARLY ONE COULD PREDICT THIS WILL HAPPEN FOR NEW FACULTY and think forward - and even add a clause to agreements (union etc) to pre-empt the issue such as shifting when the evaluation happens for new faculty.

@com_ecology Different: no merit-based 📈 for 2 years for me. I was given incorrect information re: salaries at UVic when I negotiated and UVic is still processing my salary anomaly request - 🤔 "Impact Chair", professor, top scientist, but paid < my peers & rated as average...😭...holiday?
@com_ecology Actually, that is what I thought coming in as an Impact Chair and Professor, moving from MUN. But at UVic, it is used to decide whether you get a merit-based salary increase for two years (then the rankings are re-assessed).
