Claw sign on DWI (4th image): distinctly defined, paired band-like regions of restricted diffusion that affect two adjacent vertebral bodies and resemble a claw.

Claw: suggest degenerative changes (Modic type 1) rather than spondylodiskitis.

DWI helps as a problem-solving tool for the spine.
