Anna M. Apffel, MD!!!!
Everything they say is true- the days are long but the years are short. I truly could not have done it without the people around me. Thank you to every person who played a part in this. See you in an OR in Pittsburgh soon!
Incredible honor to speak @UMichSurgery at the annual Moses Gunn Research Conference. The breadth and impact of the science from the faculty, residents and students was inspiring and humbling. Thanks to @jdimick1 for being an awesome host. Bonus - got to hang w/ @gmdoherty too!
Proud to share that LITES’s TOWAR results have been published in NEJM! Grateful to collaborate with such talented investigators, sites, and air medical services; incredibly thankful for the patients who participated in the trial. @Jjasonsperrymd@Guyettef

Golden Hour Happy Hour #8 discussing spleens: to take or not to take, and gallbladders: to perc or not to perc. Thanks to our SCCM fellow James Ethridge for being our guest of honor!
An absolute privilege to hear Dr. @timpawlik at Grand Rounds this morning. He delivered an insightful talk, “From Cutting Surgical Edge to Systemic Therapy: Contemporary ICCA Management.”
We’re grateful for the opportunity to learn from a leader in HPB oncology and to engage in thoughtful discussion on this important topic. Experiences like this continue to refine our approach and deepen our understanding of a complex disease.
Thank you, Dr. Pawlik!

Congrats to everyone who matched today, especially my future ortho colleagues!!
More importantly, to those of you who did not match, this does not define you, keep going and keep the faith. DMs open

As more women pursue surgical training, gender disparities in residency experience persist. Because training years often overlap with childbearing years, understanding how residency programs support parenthood is critical to workforce equity. https://t.co/8zsUtc4AGH
@aalthans So lucky to have you as a role model and friend Ali! From intern year colorectal to pgy2 ACS and even a VA Vascular rotation in between! Will miss you so much next year, Mayo is lucky :)
Wow, receiving this made my day (week? year?)! One of the best parts of residency has been getting to teach medical students and get them excited about surgery. Teaching, even as a junior resident, is only possible because of the excellent learning environment at @UPMC_SurgRes
PGY2s are back at it again in skills lab! This week working on hand sewn and robotic bowel anastamoses. Check out the pride and joy on their faces when they see that their anastamosis is leak free! #SurgEd#PracticeMakesPerfect
The competition was in full swing at our Wednesday morning conference for our annual ABSITE prep Jeopardy. Thanks to our amazing education chiefs Leah, @ICampwala , and @MCribbs410 for putting together such a fun review session!
