The RNLI has temporarily closed its lifeboat station in Portsmouth to review crew safety after volunteers and staff faced severe online and physical abuse.

A new parliamentary petition asks Government departments, the NHS, education and publicly funded bodies to use the words women, girls, mothers and pregnant women as the primary and default wording in policies, guidance and public messages.

These words must not be replaced, removed, diluted or overshadowed by alternative terminology.

Clear, sex-specific language matters in healthcare, safeguarding, education, data collection and public policy.
