If at any point in Ph.D. you feel wounded, worthless, low (negative?) confidence go for internship. Sometimes taking a break from your main research area and working with a different set of people helps. Also the appreciation in industry v/s no appreciation as phd student-Ohh My!!

I completed my Ph.D. in 2021 during the pandemic and moved to @UBC for postdoc.
Thank you @pshenoy for your support, encouragement, and guidance.

In 2003, an unusual and daring incident unfolded at Luanda International Airport. Two individuals managed to steal a parked Boeing 727 aircraft and take off, leaving authorities and intelligence agencies worldwide baffled. Despite extensive efforts to locate the plane and the culprits, both the men and the aircraft have eluded capture, remaining missing to this day. This audacious heist has become a mysterious and intriguing chapter in aviation history, leaving many questions unanswered about how the theft was executed and where the stolen plane might be.

2. Masala Chaas: Add Chat masala to buttermilk, some boondi, and viola it's ready
3. Yams cooked in Buttermilk. Indian curry goes well with rice/chapati/naan
This is the Queen's Stepwell in Gujarat, India, built nearly 1,000 years ago.

@rohitrango@IllinoisCS I agree. He argues that asking each job applicant to share 3 of their best works will result in Ph.D. students focusing on publishing concrete work rather than publishing multiple LPUs. This itself will drive down the deluge of papers. Recommend you watch his lecture (link 👆)
Dr. Michael Stonebraker got his Ph.D. with zero publications & tenure at Berkeley with 5 papers.
In his 2018 Lecture at @IllinoisCS, he talked about "Diarrhea of Papers" (consequences & possible ways to stop/control this trend).

In India, a shockingly different approach to data work:
–nonprofit
–pays 20-30x minimum wage
–workers retain ownership of data they create (!)
–helps build AI for their mother tongue, benefiting locals
The challenge, of course, is signing up AI companies.

Side note: Life gets better after graduation!
